behind the goal

Anyone know what the measurement is from the back of the goal to the boards? Was watching some old hockey and noticed in the '90s it looks a pond with the size back then. Seems it's smaller now.

Standard is 11 feet from goal line to end boards.
But we all know rinks vary.

There is no regulation of room in back of the net--varies from rink to rink--Elliott if it is standard and rinks don't follow...is there a standard? If a tree falls and no one......... If you go to Bloomington this week, look at the "pond" in back of the net. It also is not correlated to whether the rink is Olympic. I have seen Olympic size rinks with very little room in back of net. Blake rink is another rink with a lot of room in back of the net. New NHL rinks may have a standard as a result of the 99 camping out back there. GB

I recall playing a pee wee or bantam game at the old Mariucci, and our coach mentioned that there was a lot more room behind the net than at most rinks we played on.

I was just going to reply re: the old Mariucci. I don't recall seeing any rink with anywhere near the space there was back there.
