Curious question here, not trying to be an "elitist" or anything like that.

If this is the Minnesota High School Elite League, why is there a player from Fargo Shanley (I guess I am assuming "Shanley" is Fargo Shanley) trying out?

Thanks!

Do you know (ballpark) how many of these guys will get kept? Meaning, are there already a group of players who are "in" so this list is playing for a specific number of spots?

Yes - there are already kids who got automatic invites and are locked in. Generally 40-50% come from the tryout.

Rosters are posted. Of the 121 kids who were listed on the tryout list, 50 made the league. 145 total players in the league. So roughly 35% make the league out of the try out.

Zam had shoulder surgery so likely wouldn’t have been able to play anyways. And Max is at NTDP.

I’m sure the list of players that are not playing this fall are playing juniors. Is it typical to have so many not play each fall? Is the Elite League not what it once was? I was told it’s turned into all offense no defense with little to no coaching. Just curious what anyone else thinks.

STA also has 5 with the TW players included in the elite league.

very interesting to see East with 5 kids?
Denfeld with 1🙄
Of course the beloved Hawks got a pile
surprised by kids making it without playing a varsity minute
the range teams really get no respect if you don’t include Rapids

I’m guessing might have to do with the fact denfeld got beat by 10 in the finals last year and lost most of their good players while htown has most of theirs back.

The MNHSEL - Has become glorified shinny (Just my 2 cents) - The HS coaches that are dialed in and lobby for their players get a bunch in - the coaches who don't care about it or don't lobby for their players have very few. Player with no Varsity or even HS games over Sr's or Jr's. Advisors making calls getting kids on Teams, AAA / Summer Programs putting their $$ players on their team. They a do a good job marketing and on social media so all the kids want to do it - It has lost its way (at least in my opinion) originally it started to keep Sr. and Jr. HS players in MN vs. leaving - now its become a who you know deal with some players that haven't even played HS.
