Section 2A Championship (3/3/23)
#1 seed Orono (22-5-0) vs #3 seed Delano (15-12-0)
@ St Louis Park Rec Center
Two longtime rivals will meet up again in the Section 2A Final. Orono comes into the championship game having fought off two very good challenges so far in Section 2A playoff play. The Spartans don’t normally blow anyone out but they do have 22 wins on the season and are still unbeaten in Section 2A play. If it is another tight game look for Junior Tommy Lewin as he has scored both the game winning goals so far for Orono in the playoffs who are looking for revenge on Delnao who ended their season in the playoff last winter.
Delano returns to the Section 2A final for the 5th straight year and they will look to be getting some revenge on the Spartans from earlier this year. The Tigers have looked good so far and Senior Will Brown is playing with a lot of confidence and has found the back of the net a lot recently. They did lose to Orono 5-1 in the regular season but most would agree this game is sure to be closer this time around.
Who wins this longtime rivalry and gets the last Class A Tourney spot on Friday Night?
