Edina 3, Maple Grove 0

Interestingly, Maple Grove out shot Edina 35-17. Bertram was very solid for Edina in net. Even though MG doubled up Edina on shots, I’m guessing scoring chances were about even, with Edina scoring on theirs but MG not on theirs. Game was pretty sloppy, with lots of penalties. Probably expected for first game of season.

Edina will be good. They were without sophomore stud Mason West (QB for football team playing tonight). They weren’t super flashy offensively, but that’ll come. Defensively, while giving up 35 shots, they limited Maple Grove’s grade A opportunities.

Maple Grove has to burry their chances and goal scorers have to emerge, with Busch being the only scorer from last year back. But they should be fine. 35 shots with almost a brand new roster against Edina is solid.
