Chanhassen 2, Tonka 0, 7:42 remaining in first period

UPDATE: 2-0, end of first. Chanhassen had a PP goal and another goal that went off a Tonka player's skate (I think). Storm G Kam Hendrickson with some good saves fending off Tonka, including at least one full PP (maybe two). Wisconsin commit Gavin Uhlenkamp is great, wouldn't surprise me if he wins Mr. Hockey. He assisted the first goal; he's amazing the way he creates opportunities for himself and teammates skating with the puck.

UPDATE: 2-0, end of second (SOG: 34-20, Tonka). Channy D holding strong fending off Tonka.

UPDATE: 2-0, 12 minutes remaining in third.

UPDATE: 2-0, 2:50 remaining. Tonka empty net.

UPDATE: 2-1, 1:54 remaining. Tonka six-man attack scores.

2-1 FINAL (SOG 45-25, Tonka). Congrats to the Storm. They will make their first state tourney appearance in school history.

3-1 Centennial over MG after two. Centennial has two powerplay goals. Scored on 5 on 3 PP in second and then 5 on 4 PP that continued after 5 on 3 powerplay goal. Centennial has had three powerplays in game. MG zero. Refs seem tired of MG, because Centennial very clearly held a MG player in front of net in second period scoring chance and refs let it go. It’s a physical game but apparently only MG is committing penalties. Yes, I’m a MG guy so take it for what it’s worth.

Alexandria has its way with Northern Lakes tonight and they get the 3 peat in Section 6A. They now head back to State for the 3rd straight year.

5-1 Centennial now. They are gonna win and deserve it. MG sloppy and out of sink tonight. Turnovers and no hunger. Centennial very deserving 5AA champ. Lots of new or newer blood in state tourney this year. And hey, Tonka lost, so I’m good!

Mahtomedi wins it in OT! The Defending Champs get a great test from Southwest Christian/Richfield but they find a way to win in the end and head back to State.

Final/2 OT
Warroad wins it in the second Overtime on the PP over East Grand Forks. They return to State for the third straight year in a classic of a game!

For as boring as yesterday's games were, today has NOT disappointed. Tonka goes down, SWCR takes Maht to OT, Andover and Rapids OT, Warroad and EGF 2OT, Century becomes the first 507 team playing on Thursday since 2009.

4 of 7 games won by the underdog tonight. And Andover still has the chance. I prefer GR myself, so holding out hope.

Indians beat Andover in OT.

Last Saturday was pretty uneventful as well.

Good to see Grand Rapids advance to state. Surprised to see Mark Manney contain his composure
regarding the winning goal. Typically, he's all over the referee's (in there face), questioning there
calls during the game. Obviously, over head camera's don't lie which didn't help Andover. Wonder
what the outcome would have been at a different site without the over head camera's

I like coach Claftons post game answer about the winning goal "The right call should have been made right away."

Glad they got it right! It looked like the ref was right on top of the action so kind of weird he didn't signal goal immediately.

GR played a great game, strong defensively and maintaining control of the play.
