Last day of the holiday tournaments and a few regularly scheduled games sprinkled in. That Moorhead v STA game should be stellar.

Andover-Shakopee is an interesting one today. The Huskies have two nice wins in a row while the wheels are looking a bit wobbly in Saber Country.
This Shakopee team reminds me of the Alex Bump Prior Lake team that brought back a loaded roster only to slog through the regular season. That team ended up putting it together in time for a state run. We’ll see what the Sabers can do.

STA -Mhd. 0-0 after 1. Mhd had better chances but both teams did a good job of keeping the front of the goal clean.

A lot like Edina-STA, STA-Moorhead decided on special teams. Definitely can make the case of Moorhead being the top team in Class AA.

Moorhead will be the new #1 on Sunday. Hill got unlucky with their draw in the tournament and didn't have to face the quality teams Moorhead, Edina and STA did.

I've been impressed the few times I've watched Shakopee, but man their losses are head scratchers sometimes. They really need to figure out how to quit taking on so much water. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them go on a run in sections, but they could lose a quick one and be a foot note just as easy.

I brought this up after watching them loose to EP and simply put, I just don’t see it. They’re too unpredictable, shaky and I may get slammed for it, but the staff just doesn’t seem to have things in check. It’s hard to explain.

Not a good showing for Hill, tying EP. Very sloppy today, and I thought lethargic yesterday. After having watched most of the Tradition tourney this week, I would say Moorhead, STA, and Edina should be ranked ahead of the Pioneers. They’ll have their opportunities, with plenty of games against those 3 later in the season.

Easy now. It’s not like the Eagles are some slouch or anything; say what you want. Tough to go out over 3+ days and beat everyone, heck Cretin barely squeezed by PL of all teams. Tough field of teams IMO…

EP-Hill was an interesting game. EP finally broke through on their scoring woes with 3 goals on 9 shots. A tie is a moral victory considering EP was playing with Fryar, the backup goalie.

My eyes don’t deceive me. Hill missed a ton of passes today, and I can’t count the number of times they iced the puck. At one point in the 3rd, they iced the puck like 4 times in 15 seconds. They had turnovers in their own end, directly in front of their keeper. And they’ve now given up hattys in consecutive games to not-exactly-juggernaut teams.

Hill played well the first two periods, holding EP to 5 shots, then kind of fell apart in the third.

Yeah, I’m not saying they’re suddenly terrible or that they didn’t have good moments. They were the more talented team. But EP generally outplayed them in the 3rd and probably in OT too.

Hill looked tired in the 3rd and 4th periods. They just had nothing more to give, which is a bit concerning. EP got stronger as the game went on. This was the first game that Hill's goaltending was dubious. Next up is Tonka, and that won't be any easier. EP gets credit for continuing to grind and getting their best player the puck on his stick.

Unlucky draw??? On the YHH podcast Tony said that each coach can block one team, choose two opponents, and gets assigned the third. Lex picked two of these opponents.
I'm not complaining, I have no idea what his reasons were. But the only value I see in this weekend was playing on three consecutive days. It can't be hard to schedule three similar opponents over the course of the season.

I'm solidly in Blue's camp on this. Last Saturday's effort agin' White Bear was not a stellar effort, but we heard the "But WB always plays Hill tough excuse". That obviously doesn't apply here. I said after the LVN game that we cannot keep giving up 3 goals to middling teams, unless we keep scoring 6 goals a game, which did not happen today. It's difficult to see us putting 5 or 6 on the likes of Edina, or STA, or Moorhead.
Separately, STA had a lot on their hands, what with playing Edina late on Friday then the Spuds early today.
As far as #1, my vote goes to Moorhead. They seem like the hottest thing going now.
The live steam high quality. On Thursday evening it showed the time, but not on Friday or Saturday.

Not sure if they were having technical difficulties on Day 2 since there weren't a ton of ads being played between periods. The game clock wasn't always accurate but was in the ballpark, so I didn't see it as a huge loss.
I haven't been to Jax, but based on the ad, it seems like the kind of place where you would be thrown out for being too loud by cheering while watching the HS hockey tournament.
