I could see STMA beating Elk River. STMA gave Edina a game a couple weeks ago.

I would consider the Prairie Centre vs Breckenridge/Wahpeton game a pick 'em. The teams played twice during the season, both games went to Breck/Wahp in OT. Basically it came down to head to head to decide who got the #4 seed.

Perhaps the Game of the Day was Duluth Marshall and Forest Lake in 7AA. Duluth Marshall came back from a 5-1 deficit to beat Forest Lake 6-5.

I agree.
By the scores of some of these games, they were on running time not more than half way through.

During the regular season I suppose one or both of the teams can cancel. Hibbing- Greenway comes to mind. And someone on here mentioned the same when Hill Murray blew up Simley 18-1 a few weeks back.

But there's not much you can do during playoffs when everyone participates.

What do you guys think about this. Somewhat like the NFL, where the best team sits through one or two rounds, how would this work for hockey here?
Maybe not feasible, but it avoids these obvious beat downs and the worst teams can just go home.

I thought running time only occurs in the 3rd period. Was the rule modified to allow running time in the second period?

I would like to see a "Mendoza line" for qualification like they do in Wisconsin. I've seen it in action here for football and basketball and I think it works out pretty well for the most part.

No.
Let them have hope.
Let them have a chance.
Losing 10 to 0 versus not getting on the field ice or court;
I will take the big-time loss every time over not given the opportunity.

I agree with Elliott. A large amount of the schools do not enter the season figuring they have a great chance to make the state tournament let alone win it. Yet these kids still have the opportunity to play a great game and gain everything that goes along with that. Many of the teams that don’t get a sniff at post season success still send a lot of players off to great hockey careers and more importantly great careers in other fields.

The chance for an 8,9, or 10 seed to knock off a 1 is what it’s all about.

Well the best team sits the first round in section 6AA.
