i know me and you 2A dont see eye to eye on many things but i agree that these top three for the hobey are alittle iffy.......thought for sure potulny would be up there.

I think Carle has to be the favorite. IMO, he is the best of that crew, Elliot is solid, but the team in front of him is very solid and eliminate good scoring opportunities for the other team. What happens if Carle wins the award but has NHL duty that night, does someone accept it on his behalf? That wouldn't be right.

Curious 2A, who did you think would be better candidates? I somewhat disagree with the 3 chosen as well.

Might as well keep the Hobey in Colorado by giving it to Matt Carle.

Matt Carle
Ryan Potulny
Chris Collins

Elliott in the top three is a joke, in my opinion...was 2nd team All-WCHA...Even in the Gophers lackluster post-season...Potulny still was the best player on the ice.
Taylor Mattson-The Next Non-Mr. Hockey

I agree. Goepfert was the better goalie than Elliott. Potulny was the points and emotionl leader on what was considered the best team in college hockey for much of the year. Obviously they ended with a thud, but his numbers and value to the Gophers speak for themselves. He was terrible against an average Minnesota State team. Even though he was coming off injury, you can't use that as an excuse in the Hobey Baker running.

I think it's ridiculous that Potulny is not one of the three finalists, if anything, he should take the spot of Chris Collins. Collins was second in points, points per game and shorthanded goals. Potulny on the other hand LED the Nation in points, points per game, goals per game, and power play goals. There's no doubt that Collins is an excellent hockey player but Potulny's numbers are better. I have to believe that if the Gophers made the Frozen Four and BC didn't, Potulny would have been one of the three finalists and not Collins.

I don't think Potulny deserved to win it, but I am supprised he isn't in the top three. I guessing MN early loss had a lot to do with it, but he still had a very good year.

how do u say that potulny did not deserve to win it? look at his numbers, look at his game against st cloud, yea sure he has his knocks against him with minnesota not gettin past HC and the dissapointing showing in the WCHA final five, but he played awesome, every player who is up for the hobey has his knocks against him

Heard during the final four that there is more to the Hobey Baker then just being the top hockey player in College hockey. Anybody else hear that? Something like grades, attitude, etc...

In my opinion, Elliott shouldn't win anything. As I've previously stated, he was second team All-WCHA. He has good players in front of him, Bobby Goepfert doesn't. Goepfert, IMO, was the best goalie in the WCHA this year, ahead of Elliott, and in no way do i think Bobby G should win the H Bakes
Taylor Mattson-The Next Non-Mr. Hockey
