Anyone want to lay it on the line with some predicted upsets in sectionals? Who are the potential cinderella teams to watch and why?

With such a strong field and many teams with strong regular season SOS we could again see some upsets in 4A. It happes every year it seems, but time will tell...

This section has always sent the #2 seed to state and that team has always won state...

Maybe that will change this year???

I'll go out on a limb and say Mankato West will knock off New Prague in Section 1A. West plays very steady with solid "D" and goaltending. NP has more skill with their top end players, and very good goalie as well. For some reason, I just have a feeling West will be able get past NP.

dasherdude.

West has the goalie that can pull off the upset, but correct me if I'm wrong, but the last three times NP and West have played, west has scored a grand total of one goal.

NP has more depth this year than they ahve in the past

I think I could see Tech upsetting both Bemidji and Elk River. I might be going out on a limb here, but I believe it's possible.

I agree with ya Random1727, I can see Tech upsetting Bemidji or ER, it'll be a tough task, but I'd like to see them finally get past the sectional semifinals.

I have a feeling it will happen this year. They've got some talented kids, starting between the pipes on up. Tech has a shot.

Park beat Henry Sibley tonight, which is a pretty huge upset. Score was 1-0 Park and the number seven seed pulls it off.

8 AA seems like one upset has taken place. Sounds like Tech had a problem with the 16 shots on goal. Didn't they have any defense or was the goalie off. Anyone see the game?

Hockeydad,
I was basing my upset prediction on what I saw of West at the end of this year. Regardless of any games played earlier in the year. I thought they were playing well and had some nice balance in their lines and, as you mentioned, solid goaltending.

None tonight according to the seeding... (all highest seeds won tonight)...

This means there were 20 upsets total of 115 games played. Of the 20 upsets, 5 KRACH got right where the seeds were wrong...
