This is the cafe but it's still all hockey talk, damnit. Anybody like the Minnesota Twin's chances in the playoffs this year? They're on a tear to say the least right now. They've won 9 straight going into tonight's game against the Orioles. They just swept 2nd place Chicago by a 3 day margin I believe to be 27-3 on the scoreboard. Or close to that. They're offense and starting pitching couldn't be doing better. Even though we have a Cy Young contender, we don't even need to mention any names, because you could say anyone and have a world of good to talk about. Anyone else like these guys? <p></p><i></i>

Wait til we know who we get in the play-offs and then we can specualte. <p></p><i></i>

It's as if we're going to get Boston, but a few days later we're set to play New York. The Western Division has a hell of a race going on between Oakland and the Angels. I want Oakland kind of, because it's so funny watching them go up 2-0 or 2-1, then losing in the first round. For what-the last 5 or 6 years they've done that? They play eachother the last series of the year so it'll be interesting. <br><br>I think the Twins would have an easier time beating Boston in round one (also known as Twins East), but playing and beating NY in round one would give us the momentum we need to go all the way. <p></p><i></i>

Well, Gardy pulled a Grady (Little) tonight. Anyone else find that quite a coincidence, as I do?<br><br>Grady leaves Pedro in the game for one inning too long against the Yankmees last year, and it costs them the game and the series. Gardy makes an unbelievably horrible decision and leaves Nathan in for one inning too long, and it costs the Twins the game, and very well may cost them the series. <br><br>I stayed off the Gardy-hater bandwagon all year long, but I'm about ready to jump on...<br><br>Holy Parise, I'm pissed right now. <p></p><i></i>

Ahhh...I don't know. It's so hard to be mad. I mean he's done everything else right. Except start Kubel. But, he's the manager. He's gotta go with instinct and make decisions. He can't predict the future. <br><br>I think that last night's loss will do one of two things: crush their spirits and we come out flat tomorrow, or two-it'll fuel their souls and they'll come out TWICE as hard as games one and two. I think the Twins will come out fired up tonight, the Dome should be rockin'. Whether Silva can hold off that Yankee lineup is another matter entirely.<br><br>I didn't have a problem with Gardy sending Nathan out to pitch the 12th on Wednesday, but he should have pulled him after the first walk. And Kubel looked overmatched. I'm still not willing to jump on any anti-Gardenhire bandwagon though. <p></p><i></i>

Hindsight is always 20/20. Baseball is just like real life with so many decisions to make and so many possible outcomes. Gardy is one of the best there is because of his great attitude.He will always look for the best in his players and they will feed off of that. <p></p><i></i>

How would you compare Tom Kelly to Gardy? I'd say Kelly was 10 X the manager that Gardy is, and he wasn't exactly known for his great attitude. Attitude is everything. People who look for the worst in every situation are terrible coaches. Nobody wants to follow their lead. In fact most people run from them ASAP. Great attitudes attract great people. Sorry dude but your not buying my statement in it self shows your lack of understanding on how to teach and motivate people. <p></p><i></i>

Like I said, Hind-sight is 20/20. You guys would make good reporters. Always right on the money (in your mind) but a day late and a "who gives" too short. That attitude is what's truly meaningless. My, aren't we speaking from a high and mighty soapbox. What I hear you say is that Gardenhire should be immune from criticism for his decisions because he's got a great attitude?? And you are also saying that those who have never coached should not be allowed to have any opinions about his decisions?? We're supposed to watch the games and not say anything, because that would be speaking from hindsight and that's bad. Taken to the logical extreme, you would not review games with the players because well, hindsight's 20/20 and that's just Monday morning quarterbacking.<br><br>I know what you're saying, you do want to create a positive environment for the players but obviously they also need to be made aware when they make a mistake so they don't repeat it. From the perspective of this forum, discussing the decisions a coach or player make is half the fun of watching sports and if that bothers you, well, maybe this forum isn't your thing. <p></p><i></i>

To answer your first paragraph, Your reading way to much into it. relax and take a deep breath. The answers are always are alot simpler then the questions.
