What does everyone think about this and what do you think his suspension will be. If you don't know what i am talking about Matt was in Warroad last weekend and was driving 39 in a 30 and weaving at 2 am. He failed the physical test and the breathalizer and they are now wayiting for his urine anlysis to come in about another week here.

This is an interesting topic, but not high school hockey related. Matt Greene is the "captain" of the UND squad. Where the hell was his head at????

This topic is a disgrace, and an example of the worst in people, and how forums like these can be abused. No doubt this will be locked and/or removed soon enough.

HS hockey players are too young for this crap, put yourself in the shoes of a parent before you step in it.

Even with the subject of this being in college, it still reeks and has no place here.

Yes, seriously I wouldn't even post something like this. It is none of our business, I hope this thread is deleted soon.

common knowledge

I can't say that this is dominating the newspapers, but its definitely been in both Fargo and Grand Forks news. It is widely known that he got his DWI and was suspended from the team. Why can't we talk about this?? What affect will it have on the team with their captain being suspended??

I agree with everyone, this thing should be canned. Everyone else was doing it, so why not me?

The whole idea of publishing the DWI is to humiliate the offender so it doesn't happen again. I see no problem talking about the offense, the lack of leadership displayed, or the effect it will have on UND.

What if you saw on the news that Irmen or Briggs got a DWI? Wouldn't you want to talk on a message board about how it would affect the team?

These are 20, 21, 22 year-old adults. It is different when discussing these issues with high school kids.

The kid was 21 - I guaratnee you college hockey players will have a beer or two now and then - even the ones that are not 21.
He got caught on the road and now faces charges.
If UND hockey has a no drink policy for their players then he will suffer there also.
If suspended it will have a big effect on their team depending on the length of the suspension.

And for you gopher fans - broaden your horizons - lots of MN boys get to play hockey and get educated at a fine school in ND.

I think it is fair game. He's not in HS and should be considered a role model. He is the one who made the choice and now has to live with the decision that he made. Personally, I think drinking and driving is one of the worst offenses out there. That's my opinion though.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

A car is one of the deadliest weapons when not used correctly. Driving drunk is basically like attempting murder.

i think this thread is uncalled for and what happens in one persons life should be his own business, it amazes me that so many people wanna spark debates on what should or shouldnt happen, dont dwell on others mistakes

There are some mistakes you just can't make.

Just as we hear about his great defensive plays, we are going to hear about the DWI. Unfortunately, comes with the territory.

Matt is a good guy and I believe your a good guy. It should be shown, on and off the ice.

College hockey is a privilege gained by only a few. Please remember that as a hockey player, you are representing not only yourself and your present team, but also many before you that have put in a lot of time and effort, not to mention blood, sweat, and tears, to make the Sioux tradition what it is today.

Don't try to minimize or defend the DWI, because it happened, and there is no defense. Learn from it, go on, and wear the Sioux logo with pride.
