Moss is gone

Looks like Moss is going to Oakland. Personally, I hate to see him go, brought a lot of fun to the team. We better get some good defense for this.

Moss for LB Napoleon Harris, a 1st round pick and a late round pick. What a horrible deal for the Vikes. Hopefully we get one of the top defensive players in the draft with that 7th pick, or else this could wind up being the 2nd worst trade in Vikes history, behind the Herschel Walker trade.

The misery continues...I can just not picture moss in a different jersey.
Go Buffs

As amazed as I am that I'm saying this, but if the Vikings spend their money right and luck goes their way, they could be better next year. Yes, I know I said the trade sucked, but Napoleon Harris is a solid fairly young LB, and this trade leaves them with tons of money. They can get one of many solid WR's that are free agents, like Derrick Mason, Muhsin Muhammed, or Plaxico Burress. Two first round draft picks, get LB Derrick Johnson from Texas or CB Antrel Rolle from Miami with the first, then someone like S Thomas Davis from Georgia or any number of D-Lineman availible with the second first rounder. Then, still have money left over to sign and O-Lineman and some more defensive players. But we all know the Vikes front office will screw it up, so as of now I don't like the trade.

Edited by: <A HREF=

He will be missed. Hopefully Vikes can get some good free agents out there.

I agree Koren. I say we should go after either Mason or Burress. Burress is most like moss, with out all the extra baggage that moss brings. The Vikes should also go for Samari Rolle who was cut by the titans earlier this week due to cap issues. That would really help their D.

He was available late in the 1st round in 1998 because he had bagage. We draft him knowing that. Now we trade him because....well, he had bagage.

I dont get it. Seems to me we got just what we expected and more.

I dont mind the deal (any deal) if the club improves but it sounds to me like the Vikes are just taking advantage of an oppoertunity to get rid of him.

It is a very debatable trade, but in the end we really didn't go anywhere with Moss on the squad, despite all the talent on the team. If cap money is spent right, this could be an improvement. Burress is a huge deep threat, and Antell Rolle or Derrick Johnson would be great additions to the defense. Let's just hope we don't miss our draft pick. By the way, can't wait to see what the likes of Patrick Reusse and Dan Barreiro have to say about this. They criticize Moss and say to trade him and now I have a feeling they will criticize the trade.

Vikes did better when Moss was injured my GF is wearing her
Randy Moss t shirt today but she doesnt even like him either that boys got a real attiued problem and when your QB tells him to grow up you know its time for your WR to leave. Bye Randy you will...............................not be missed.<img src=

Despite popular belief, the Vikings did not do better when Randy was injured. And I don't think that the trade is worth it unless they get another 1st round draft pick in the future. Yea, Randy may have an attitude problem, but he is also one of the most spectacular players in the league. There are very few who have changed the game like he has. If they trade Randy, I think they are just asking for trouble.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Culpepper even got sick of him you think Culpepper would throw the ball to someone who only tried to catch the ball when he wanted to? or would Daunte rather throw it to someone who did his best to catch the ball?
__________________
Josh Johnson former CEC goalie current UMD goalie

2a- I'd get the other Rolle in the draft, Antrel Rolle, the Miami Hurricane CB. He is much younger than Samari (I think they are cousins or something). Samari is good, but hes getting older. Either Antrel or Derrick Johnson would be great fits for the D at 7. I just hope that we don't pick Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards because there are so many WR's on the FA market. They then should get another D-player at 18, then in the second round get Mike Nugent, the kicker from Ohio St because Morten is 78 years old.<img src=

Moss was a poison and not worth the talent he brought. Team is more important.

One down. Two to go.

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005

Who are the other two Lee?

Talentwise, Moss is the best player in the NFL and I am not sure the Vikes are getting fair value for that talent. I'd like to see them get another high-round draft pick. The team is important, but so is having a high level of talent on that team.

If the linebacker is good, it might make the team more balanced and it sure would be nice to have a defense that could make some stops when they're needed. Baseball has some good examples of teams improving after getting rid of a superstar player, i.e. both Seattle and Texas after lossing A-Rod. However, there's no question this will hurt the offense, Culpepper will be seeing the same defenses that he saw in the 2nd half of last season and will need to step his game up another notch. The smart move would be to pursue another high level free agent receiver but the current ownership situation might make that tough.

funny talking about football on this site. lee, i agree with red (used car sales shark) going bye bye, but, i have a little loyalty to mikey. it comes from seeing him at the excel before he took the head coaching helm, up in the catbird perch as guest of honor before the faceoff...saying lets play hockey! he mingled well with the fans between periods and the guy seemed geniune as hell. would fat denny ever do that? i doubt it.

in a way moss also made culpepper a better QB i think (just my opinion) im quite anxious to see how the team will do this year without the distractions (moss) red needs to LEAVE lol plexico burress would be a GREAT fit i think after leaving the steelers cuz he wasnt getting the ball will give culpepper someone who wants to play......i think we should be looking to trade a running back we got a few of them

the trade doesn't make sense because we got an average player (harris) who plays a position where we already have too many average players (henderson, thomas, nattiel). As long as they don't mess up the pick then there is a chance that it will all turn out alright.

Right now it looks bad, but it could turn out alright. The team's best players (Culpepper, Birk) had expressed the fact that they were fed-up with Moss' antics and felt it was time to move on. Harris has been average at best, there is no arguing that. He does, however, have a lot of potential. If he, Thomas, and Henderson can reach that potential, it could be a solid linebacking core. In an ideal world, we would be able to sign Burress and then get two defensive starters on defense with our draft picks. Other cap casualties like Nate Wayne and Samari Rolle are out there, and the Dolphins are looking to trade Patrick Surtain and the Broncos Trevor Pryce. This is all in a perfect world, and I might be too high with my optimism, but all you really have with the Vikes is hope.
