"you go to the box. for 2 minutes. by yourself. then your free"<br><br>scene: when newman confronts the hansen brothers mugging the pop machine in the depot...they ask who he is and newman, with his classic scowl, replies..."i'm reggie dunlap, the coach".<br><br>scene: newman and strother martin, gm, are discussing the new players shortly after newman realizes their assigned to his team: strother goes on to describe how when one of his minor league players always wanted to draw a penalty...just to get in the box and play pocket pool. newman shakes his head in disgust and martin continues his diatribe by himself!<br><br>scene: one of the hansen brothers, in the first game they are gooning things up, skates by the opponents bench and pops each of them in the head with his stick while they are looking the other way. (remember spanky and our gang? same scene but with highway construction workers getting bonked).<br><br><br> <p></p><i></i>

what's truly amazing about this movie is that the screenplay was written by a young lady, nancy dowd, in her mid-twenties! she must have known some semi-pro players in her day...no way she concocted this script on her own!<br><br>for you guys who have seen the movie a few times who can pinpoint when newman's (own) daughter gets her mug on camera...which scene?<br><br> <p></p><i></i>

np...i think oldgoalie is correct about newman's daughter...she was the clerk in the store waiting on the customers. cute, perky blond. had about 1 minute of air time. lee, loved the moon-bus shot entering the town scene! the local church ladies zipped it up pretty fast with all that flesh rolling by...<br><br>if you watch close, number 7, newman (dunlap) can actually skate and pass. he learned to skate for the movie! for most of the long scenes, however, newman had a double.<br><br>i had the pleasure of attending a minnesota moose game years ago and you guessed it...the hanson brothers had a booth, signed autographs and worked the crowd between periods...roaming the bleachers completely dressed as if just stepping from filming the movie...incredible. <p></p><i></i>
