Rumors

I get a little sick of the Warroad recruiting rumors.

1. I know that Marvins only give jobs to parents of hockey players. Must be that why Warroad school numbers are dropping and Marvins only employ 2500 people. They need more employees, so come on you hockey parents get on up to Warroad, the land of milk and honey.
l
2. Warroad sends out letters. Where are they?
3. Oh, I knew someone who talked with someone who thought they knew a person from Warroad who said they heard that someone from Warroad said their parents could get a good job at Marvins if their kids was good enough.
4. Warroad kids and families don't put any more effort into hockey than any other town, so they must be doing something wrong to win all the time.

ANY BODY GOT ANY MORE TO ADD TO THE LIST?
.

Edited by: <A HREF=

Yeah well I heard from a homeless man in an alley in St. Paul that was originally from Red Lake Falls that has a second cousin that lives in Warroad that his uncles cousins nephews friends dad heard through the grapevine that a Warroad man is putting together recruiting camps in the other 49 U.S. states as well as 3 canadian provinces trying to find new recruits for Warroad next year. And the same man also told me that when they find their recruits they offer their parents multi-million dollar contracts at Marvin Windows for their kids to come play for Warroad<img src=

His job is in the Indian Ed Dept and has nothing to do with school cuts. This is what I have been told. I don't know, but I have heard that he might have a job coaching in the ushl.

What qualifies him to coach in the USHL? You seem to be a expert on coaching so when he does leave I am sure you will take his spot on the Warroad staff.

I've been there.

Don't know who you are, but you are right.

If you have the proof, present it to the proper people.
Why come here (not using your real name) and spout what you think is the god's honest truth, whenit is nothing more than rumor.

Besides, bottom line, you look at almost all programs and you will find kids that did not play mite(squirt etc) hockey for that program (yesterday and today).
So why is the kid now playing high school hockey there? How did he get there?
Let it be, unless it is agianst the HS rules - then let them get the rope and do the hanging.

Don't forget the hockey/marvin-evangelists standing on the corners next to all TWO of our stoplights preaching the Ice Gospel, calling the attention of and/or hypnotizing all hockey players passing through...

A simple fix

A simple fix for Warroad and a few other programs is to not give the skeptics something to talk about. Play with your own kids.

So I guess Warroad and a few other towns should just put up a wall around the town and not let anyone else move in. They should just tell people to get lost if they want to move into their community and put their kids into school and play sports. Come on lets get a clue I don't think I have ever heard of anywhere turning people away because their kids plays sports and they might take a spot from another kid.

Windsor, No need to buil a wall. However, anyone with a brain realizes a few schools AA included have a larger than average number of transfers. Jefferson, Centennial, WBL and others don't. It can be done without it. The 3 schools mentioned however have a tremendously large amount of open enrollment students for academic purposes. Isn't that what it was meant for????? I have never used the word recruiting and won't.

It is rather interesting how Warroad fans keep trying to defend it. Quit talking about it and it may go away. Moreover, give others nothing to talk about with your lineup!

Open Enrollment

This has nothing to do with Warroad, but I think it speaks a lot about the metro area.

About a year ago I read an article about open enrollment that used a few metro schools as examples. The one school they used that I remember with a great athletic program was Hastings HS who is usually a state power in hockey dispite the past 2 seasons, and has outstanding programs in football, baseball, wrestling and basketball as well.

The research showed that Hastings had something like 80-90 "open enrollment" students in grades 10-12. Of those 80+ kids just 4 of them played a sport. I dont remember exactly but I believe the article said a lot of the open enrollment kids enrolled because Hastings had a nice setup for their HS with new classrooms and offered a lot of honors english/math etc. type classes.

I'm not saying kids dont transfer to schools just for sports, but I think we give a little too much heat to schools, especially private schools, who think that kids go are their for one reason only.

I think we need to start giving the kids some credit. I mean, do you really think Lechner or Trebil need to go "recruit" kids to come to AHA or Hill? The kids and their families are smart enough to figure out that they are gaining much more than possible hockey recognition by going to a different HS than the one down the road, be it private or public.

I know this is kind of off topic because we were talking about primarily what goes on up north, but I just thought this would help get rid of some of the "recruiting rumors" around the metro area.

let's say someone moves to warroad and they're family is with them. They move in the summer, and are completely elligible to play. They try out, they kick ass, moreso than a few of the home-grown. BUT warroad doesn't want recruiting rumors, so they give the spot UNFAIRLY to the native warroadian EVEN THOUGH the other person was better. I see a discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen.

You can't keep good players from playing.

Edited by: <A HREF=
