Very interesting<br><br>Hockey dad arrested after attack on referees<br>WebPosted Mon, 28 Mar 2005 16:26:51 EST <br>CBC Sports <br>A 43-year-old man from Newmarket man, Ont., faces assault charges after two referees were punched during a midget hockey game Sunday night. <br><br><br>RELATED: CBC TORONTO<br><br>Peterborough police said the Newmarket man approached the ice and began yelling at the referees after they broke up a fight involving his teenaged son. <br><br>Both officials were hit in the face before arena staff members were able to restrain the man. <br><br>Neither of them needed medical treatment. <br><br>The scrap occurred during a game between minor midget teams from Peterborough and Newmarket. <br><br>The man was charged with two counts of assault. <br><br>He was released, and will appear in a Peterborough court on April 20. <br><br><br> <br> <p></p><i></i>

I would like to say that I have never been in Newmarket, Ontario (though I have been to New Market, Minnesota). I don't have a kid playing midget hockey and I didn't punch no referees. <br><br>I'm innocent. Someone else has stolen my identity. <p></p><i></i>

This has been going on for years. He punched out some other Dad a couple years ago on the East coast and the guy dies. Then he abuses his kid in Canada to the point that the kid breaks down and eventually takes out a restraining order against him. I hear that next year the refs are going to be forced to carry pepper spray, any truth to this?? <p></p><i></i>

Being a ref myself the notion of us carrying pepper spray has never been brought up in any of the meetings i have attended there is extreme thought going into trying to figure out what to do to make sure this kind of stuff doesnt happen anymore though. <p></p><i></i>
