MG got what they deserved CONGRATS OSSEO

U can't stop playing your third line that early in the 2nd period and expect to have anything left in the 3rd period, LET ALONE 3rd OT. Looks the the MG dads got out coached. Nice job Coach Flemming. While Cray saw a ton of ice, at least you snuck the third line out there once in a while to give your stars a breather. Good luck in Regions

Not if they lose to Hopkins on Tuesday. They still have a chance to go to regions, they just have to win there next 2 games.

That post is going to come back and bite you in the *** in a week. I am calling it. Your arrogance for making this thread is unbelieveable. Maple Grove still has a shot to come through the backdoor and steal the 2nd seed from Osseo. The backdoor game will mean a lot, because the loser of the game will have to play Edina in the first round of region play.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... eyguy90 at: 2/20/06 11:26 am

Maple Grove would have to beat Hopkins, then beat the winner of Wayzata/Brooklyn Park. If they do this they will be gaurenteed a seed. I'd say they have a very good shot to do so considering they are 6-0 against these teams during district play. But, you never know. Noone thought Hopkins was going to lose to Brooklyn Park either.

How did Orono look? How will they do with Osseo?

I was there to watch the Maple Grove/Osseo game but I caught the tail end of the Orono/Brooklyn Park game. Orono's first line didn't see any ice in the third period, but Orono's third line, which played the majority of what I saw, was taking it to Brooklyn Park and to their goaltender Tyler Olson.

The Osseo/Orono game will be a good one. Orono's got size, speed and scoring power on Osseo. But, Osseo has a better core defenceman. Will be interesting.

Congrats to both teams on making it to regions!

Didn't know Orono had a third line. Not that they aren't good...........they just don't play much.

Osseo/Orono

During the season these teams split with Orono taking the first game 1-0 and Osseo the second 3-1. Maple Grove gave Osseo more than the game by playing only their first two lines. Coming off the high of Osseo's triple overtime win vs their arch rival, MG has given Osseo huge momentum. My money is on Osseo to win it all in districts.

For what it's worth Hockeyguy90, Osseo won't require to put tegether any of the backdoor strategies and analysis that you seem so focused on.

Interesting point of view. Should be a good game between Orono and Osseo. Both very good teams with good players.

I am glad to see these two teams make it to the ship. Both teams had only right around 30 kids tryout but they win off of hard work. Unlike MG and Hopkins who win mostly off of sheer talent. These teams grind and hit and do what it takes to win. It will definately be a good game.

The sad thing is, your third line did not hurt you tonight (again). Had your team used them against Osseo you would not have had to play Hopkins tonight.

1st Line

You could obviously tell from the stands that the 1st line for Maple Grove carried the play throughout the game. Unfortunately, they would get caught on long changes, and cause an oddman rush. The 3rd line for Maple Grove did its job tonight, going even I believe. The 2nd line also did its job, scoring both goals. The big 1st line for Maple Grove could not put the puck in the net; plain and simple.

The arrogance was on the bench, as well as on this Board for most of the season. Let's hope there have been lessons learned. Seacrest OUT!

What do you mean by on the bench and on the board? That has nothing to do with playing the game of hockey. That was probably the worst post I have ever seen. Put yourself in the spot of the board and the coaches in the beginining of the season. Maple Groves coach gets fired 1 week before tryouts, and the board is scrambling to find a coach. So they call up one of the players dads that is obviously going to be on the team, and asked him to coach. Imagine having to deal with the fact that you may have to shorten the bench in a tight game when you are friends with that kids parents? Think before you post.

First of all, he said THIS board. Not THE board. But, none the less a little uncalled for. But, its all good. It was a good game and MG got cold at the wrong time. It happens.

My bad, but none the less, it still was a little harsh to call upon the coaching in the situation that the dads were in. That was uncalled for.

Thanks Light. I did say this board. Anyone that's been reading this board over the season has heard the internal criticism of their goalies, the weakness of there third line, and (speaking of arrogance) no lack of confidence in their first line.

The Osseo game was an amazing thing to watch and a terrible waste for 17 kids that had worked VERY hard. That's all I'm saying. They should be going to State.

Maple Groves 1st line scored 85% of there goals until about the end of January. They did not play good hockey at the right time, and the others were. Plain and simple.

As the season went on, the goaltending obviously got better. One of the golies stepped up, and made a couple of key wins througout the season.

The Third line also had been doing there job as of late. All you have to do is reread your post and see what happened to your season. It's all a mute point. MG is done. Too bad. A very good team with good players. I think your point of view that 3rd lines don't see that much ice is interesting. How much should they see in tight games?

Third lines

I really don't want to beat this to death anymore than it already is. My only point is unless the third line is a hurting you, try to keep them somewhere in some kind of rotation if for no other reason than giving your first line a breather. When they sat the third line early in the 2nd period against Osseo it was close, but not a panic situation. As far as that goes the first 2 goals against were even against the first line. When they got to OT they cut back even further to (I think) only 4 forwards. I'm saying go ahead and shorten the bench, but do it when it makes sense and leave your studs something to finish the game with.

Bottomline is there were 17 kids that worked very hard this season that should not only be going to Regions, but should really be going to State. Unfortunately that isn't going to happen.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ucksboy at: 2/22/06 1:10 pm
