Luverne...nuff said although Mankato has a pretty decent B1. Heck, they think they can beat their A team

What made Luverne so special this year, other than not fielding an A team? Looks like they won consistantly, with the exception of a loss to Cooper. Are they this years Worthington?

A better question is what is the best B team that their town has an A team?
Falkster

Agreed. Look no further than Faribault. After losing some player's to HS they knew their Bantam team wouldn't be strong but give them credit, they played A level and it will show when these player's move up to HS. Luverne played A level last year and didn't do bad, why switch?

I don't have a problem with other associations selling their future for a few wins as B Bantams, as long as it isn't mine!! That kind of short sightedness helps districts like 4 and 5 create a little bit of competition at the B level.

Unfortunately for the kids on stuck on those B teams its a year wasted.

Watching Luverne play tonight (beat buffalo 5-1) I feel bad for those 4-5 players on Luvernes team that could have made a difference at the A level and challenged themselves along the way.

Well underst8ed, I was on a bantam b team
and I improved a lot since the beginning of the year.
I was on Mankato Bantam B1 and we did very good this year.
We went all the way to the region finals, to fall short against luverne.
We have great coaches, and they are probably the best in all of mankato youth hockey. So I think I proved my point.

Being on a B team is better then not playing at all. so ha<img src=

Maybe B bantams is the best place for a team like Luverne, but if they have 4-5 A caliber players, those players should be waivered into a program that is going to field an A team. I'm sure the parents would make the argument about too much driving, which is surely an issue. It is up to the Board in Luverne to give their players the opportunity to develop.

Being from Luverne I can tell you why we are a Bantan B. In Oct. we didn't have enough for a team. The boys recruited two first year skaters (9th graders) and pulled two Pee Wees (7th graders)up. We also had NO goalie. One player stepped up to be goalie and for all these reasons, we went Bantam B. Maybe we're getting lucky, maybe not. They just work hard as a team.

I mean no disrespect to Luverne's Association or the Bantam team. It must have been difficult, after doing back-flips just to get a team at all, to decide between A or B with 2-3 unknown kids.

But Perquette and Dinger are the real deal. Certainly 1st line A players on any dist 4 or 5 A team this year. And there were a few others on that team that could play too. Honestly, Perquette was a man among boys all weekend and he was loafing.

Good luck at state! And I hope there is a HS program nearby they can play for in the future. I think they will be fun to watch.

You're right... Between Paquette, Dinger and Olson, we have a solid line. In addition two first year skaters have stepped up and done a fabulous job--not without the help of two great coaches. It's just fun to watch and it's inspiring to see what can happen if you work hard and play as a team. If you get to know #2, he's a gem! I know our HS team is looking forward to getting all the players from Bantam B.
