Most Consecutive Wins

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the state record for most consecutive wins by a Boys High School Hockey team in MN. I noticed that IFalls won the title in 64,65 and 66 and in 65 and 66 were 23-0 so I would assume they won a few more in a row to win state in 64. Can anyone tell me if this streak is the longest in state history and how many games was it, if it was. Thanks

It belongs to Eveleth back when Johnny Mayasich played, and I dont know the exact number (someone help me out here) but for some reason 71 sounds about right.

SSP girls obviously own the record with 86 unbeaten - awesome.

Eveleth is the Daddy of combined records with their 5 titles in the first 7 years of the tourney. They won 79 in a row during that run. Doubt anyone knows their overall record from '45-'52, but it is probably untouchable.

Best long-term run ever, though, belongs to International Falls. They won 59 in a row, had a (roughly) 75-15 record with a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd from '56-'59 and between '62 and '67 their record was (roughly) 115-8 with 4 titles in 5 years. In 1963 they lost the championship game 4-3 in OT to St. Paul Johnson. Both teams were undefeated. Can you imagine a smoke-filled Civic Center (Roy Wilkins) and the atmosphere at Gallivan's before and after that one?

Next up would be Jefferson (and their '93 team that is widely regarded as the best ever) who won 3 in a row and went 103-5.

Edina's records, Roseau's staying power, Hill-Murray, Rapids, Greenway's '67-'68 titles and later threats with Gernander and Guyer, Burnsville's run in the 80s, Warroad of course, the rise of the South with Rochester in the late 70s, etc., etc., etc.

More than you asked for, but I love the history of this tourney. Thanks to Lee's
www.minnhock.com site for making stats available, and to the old-timers who love to talk about the game.
