I'm gonna say 3-1 Centennial...Krueger like i've said before is VERY solid tender. But Centennial is an "OFFENSE POWER HOUSE," that the Wayzata defense won't be able to contain. And STUTZ is on FIRE!!! I'm thrilled that I get to say to all the people that have said he sucks and he's the weakest of the tournament "I TOLD YOU SO!!" he's CLUTCH!!!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

hockeygoalie is correct

I've been saying the same thing! Stutz may not be the best goalie in state, but he does what he has to for his team to win. That is what makes a goalie, his win-loss record. Wayzata can't play like they did against Tartan and expect to even score on Centennial. Centennial will dominate this one! 4-1 Centennial wins, and they get Slappy's Spuds on 5/13!

Wayzata has to play tighter

If Wayzata gives up as many 2 on 1s as they did against Tartan, The Cougers will win easily. Tartan didnt have the stuff today to put away some pretty good chances.

If you give that kind of stuff up to Centenniel....hide the woman and children.

Based SOLELY on todays performances they both looked sub par, especially to the high billings they have been recieving. That being said, whichever teams "wakes up" tomorrow will come away with the W. I got my money on Centennial 6-3 or 5-2 (empty netter).

By the way, Stutz wasn't anmazing or anyhting today. He had a nice game but wasn't all that good, the Tartan goalie on the other hand...lets just say he was scared PLEASE BAN ME in the first period. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek">

You're right on. I said the same thing at the game today. If Wayzata plays tomorrow like they did today they'll give up double digits. Tartan had a bunch of two on ones and three on twos, although most of the time they failed even to get a quality shot. I actually am impressed Tartan came out and played so much better in the second and third periods. At least they didn't pack it in. They'll still give up 8 to Holy Angels tommorrow. Anwyay, I'd have to pick Centennial right now 6-2.

Wayzata will wear down Centennial, Wayzata had the much easier game, no offense meant to Tartan, but after the first period it was cruise control for Wayzata. Taylor made Stutz look good, he missed to many chances, I think he'll have trouble sleeping tonight. 4-3 Wayzata, they get a lead and hang on for dear life.

Want Wayzata...but

First, i believe Gorowsky is hurt much more
than we know. His 100% presence will be needed.

I like Wayzata's balance and depth. They have
2 former defenseman playing forwards. Winsor
and Mccarthy. I think Davis has done a nice job balancing his forward lines. Wayzata will get shots
but will also get some untimely penalties.

I believe Wayzata is deeper than Centennial. But
Wayzata gives up A LOT of odd man rushes. Edina
had plenty of opportunities to score against Wayzata
in the section semis and I saw a number of Tartan
odd man rushes yesterday. Wayzata has good team speed in the defensive zone and sometimes your strength can be your achilles.......

Centennial will get their opportunities and if they
can bury the 3 of the 10 odd man rushes they get they will win. A lot depends on Gorowsky's health.

Too close to call.

goldy,

i agree wayzata had a much easier game, heck it was over after 10 minutes had elapsed. wayzata will have to play better d and they will. i think centenniel will get frustrated by the deep talented wayzata d controlling the puck and moving it out of its own zone with ease. if centeniel plays the same game as it did against aha wayzata will win 3-0. i don't know how a better team can let the lesser team dictate the style and tempo of the game, this is playing with fire and centenniel got very lucky to beat aha because of this. had centenniel played its game they would have had a little easier time i think. if centenniel plays its game which i hope they will at least try to today it will be the best game of the tourney. i go along with goldy on a 4-3 wayzata win...

Prediction

I watched Wayzata play Centennial. Seemed to me that Wayzata didn't want to try and skate with the Cougars and played plenty of clutch and grab. Big players in big games step up, and so far into the tourney even a not 100% Gorowsky keeps getting the job done. Stutz is rising to the challenge and seems destined to prove he's a top goalie. I think Wayzata could be hurt by the sloppy scrimmage style game they played yesterday. Wayzata is plenty deep, but so is Centennial so I think that's a wash. Centennial beat Wayzata once and I believe will do so again. I'll pick the Cougars in a 5-2 game that may take a while to develop.

I've got Wayzata 3-2, but I agree that it will be painfully slow in developing. Look for the first period and a half to be a chess game, with both programs getting a feel for being in a state semi. Barber and Davis will be the difference.
