Last two entries into Bantam Tourney:
Edina
Rochester North

Takes:
Rochester: best all around team - good depth, size, speed, weakness - goaltending

Duluth East: best bantam defenseman in the state - Cade Fairchild - sees the ice well, great skater, can dominate a game, rarely comes off the ice. Best bantam goaltender in the state- Leis. Excellent power play unit with Fairchild at QB.

Edina: good size speed, very hot of late. Two one goal games (1-1) in regions against a very potent Stillwater team.

B.P. Hard working chippy team. Overachieving, good goaltending.

C.R. Another hardworking team, Key players: Vargas, Ellina-not sure of spelling.

Buff: will play two and go home.

p.s. WBL in rebuilding year - seven first years on team.

ot goal for Centennial disallowed due to net comming off prior to puck crossing the goal line (the official ruling).

Rochester competes in the metro regions because they are part of District 8. The district goes from Woodbury in the north down to the Missouri boarder in the south.
It's commendable that they can put togeter an "A" team with the small population within their association boundries.

The disallowed goal against Centennial had nothing to do with the net coming off. Who gave you that line of BS. Goal judge flips on the red light and then decides after conferring with the ref decided that in fact maybe he saw something black in the net but not a "puck". Bottom line goal judges have a responsibilty to watch closely not eat popcorn. Get the point. By the way what else is black on the rink??

I am only communicating the info I was told. It is unfortunate when something like that happens regardless of whom the call favors. It takes away from both teams and the game. It's not like Cent and WB need anything else to bolster the rivalry. I will venture to guess the two hockey communities will have many more close games to come.

I was at the Regional watching and saw about 6 of the games. Overall, I thought the officiating was average, at best. I thought the first 2 Centennial games (Roseville and Rochester) were officiated pretty good. I also watched some of the Coon Rapids - Chaska game and thought that was officiated pretty well. They let them play and let the players decide who was going to win the game. It is too bad when officials think that they are the ones that the people come to see. I didn't see the WB-Cent game so I can not comment. That is my 2 cents.

Don't feel sorry for Rochester and their community. They have a larger population and community to pull from than any of the suburban teams, Boomington excluded. My understanding is they used to have 2 teams at the A level and now they put all the good kids from the city on one team? Is this right?

Rochester has 2 teams at the A level, with one team, North being the stronger or A1 team and South being the A2 team. Population around 80,000, plenty of kids to pick from.

I was being sarcastic in commending Rochester for their ability to field an "A" team.
They actually field two "A" teams. North and South. It is interesting though that the North team is allways very strong and the South is middle of the pack at all age levels.
Has anyone watched Morehead this year? I hear they have an outstanding forward.

They make no bones about it in Roch that the North team is all of Roch's best players. I do wonder how MAHA guidelines are worked around.

They are in the easiest region tournament ever. I played WBL bantam A last year and we played Buffalo in the first round of the state tourney last year and killed 'em. They have a very easy road to get there but always are done after 2 games.
