The Blake Wheeler Show

I saw him play twice live this year in a 3-1 win at home in early Jan. vs. SLP and vs. Totino in the sections.

After his hatty today, I'm excited to see this Breck team play some really good AA teams next year.

They only lose 3 seniors and with Wheeler, Dee, and many other top studs back, should be a whale of a team.

Will they schedule Centennial next year? I sure hope so. I'd also like to see them play Wayzata and Moorhead.

They lose more than that...

In addition to the seniors they're loosing they're also going to lose the younger Fulton and Herd, who was living with the Fulton's. I also heard that they might lose Dee, but this is all heresay so we'll just have to wait and see.

Where's Mr. Realistichockeyparent ?

Where's Mr. Realistichockeyparent idiot guy? Blake Wheeler is a very impressive player. Mr. RHP probably remains critical (or is it jealous?), but silent. I for one am not going to criticize his parents for sending him to Breck. He's getting a top notch education, scored 40 goals and is a state champion. As I've said before, Wayzata HS did not own him because he played Wayzata Youth Hockey. His parents get to decide what's best for their kid. Congrats to him and them.

And congrats to Wayzata for producing a fine hockey player. Maybe he should have stayed with Wayzata, could have had a chance to win a AA championship.

Blake Wheeler is one incredible hockey player...I think he is one ofthe best single a player I have ever seen. He is smart with the puck and smarter without it. The only thing is...I think he is the second best single a player this year. how about that goalie for SSP? not only did he make somewhere near 40 saves, if he didnt play the puck so well there would hav been more like 70 shots on goal. i know he didnt play so great today...but third place games are always dissappointers...both teams are upset they arent playing for the championship.

Perhaps the best thing that I heard about Blake Wheeler this whole weekend is that he was the starting Tight End on the football team this year. So many kids now seem to "focus" all of their efforts on being a hockey player and play hockey year round without enjoying the experiences of other sports throughout their high school careers. I feel most of this mentality can be directly attributed to "unfocused" parents who can't see the forest for the trees. Congratulations to everyone involved in the Breck program and to Mr. Hockey 2005. I'd bet he is one hell of a tight end.

i have basically been living at the X the past 3 days and i can say without question that blake wheeler was the best player to touch that ice. granted he played against much weaker competition than gordowsky, but when wheeler was out he simply dominated.

Since Wheeler is supposed to be picking between the Gophers and Boston College, I sure hope he decides to stay home and play at the U. It would be great to watch him in person or on TV every weekend in college and see him become a star for his homestate team. College hockey out east doesn't compare to the WCHA!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... >Finn70 at: 3/13/04 4:40 pm

yes jordan is comin back to champlin park, only if his dad will let him. A lot of breck players are leaving after this year and jordan could quite possibly be one of them.

College hockey out east doesnt compare to out here? WHAT are u talkin about finn? Hockey East is the strongest conference in all of college hockey. Granted the wcha is very strong, it is second to hockey east...I dunno what spurred that comment but dont talk unless u know what ur talkin about. By the way, how many games have you seen from teams out east? Maybe the Gophers vs BU series that the gophers split (i think)...BU barely got the last spot in hockey playoffs...

This is getting off topic, but, Wildhockey, you might want to take your own advice about talking. I'd love to hear more rational on how HE is better than the WCHA.

There's no comparison. The WCHA is far and away the best conference in the nation this year. All you need to do is look at the rankings all year long. Polls, Pairwise, RPI, etc. Please do some research. Top to bottom, the WCHA is deeper than anyone else.

Let's compare:

WCHA: 6 ranked teams. #1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 15

Hockey East: 3 ranked teams. #2, 3, 10

Alaska Anchorage has a better record than Boston University, while playing a harder schedule.

Using the Krach rating system:

WCHA has 7 of the top 10 teams in the country.
Hockey East has 2.

Mankato has the lowest rated Strength of Schedule of any WCHA team, a 216.4 rating.

Boston College has the highest rated Strength of Schedule of any HE team, a 197.6 rating.

I think that truly shows the difference among the conferences. The SOS rating is a good measure, since the teams play conference opponents for the vast majority of the year.

Oldschool- I didn't think that Brian Lee, the kid from Moorhead, could be drafted until next year.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Blake Wheeler is very over rated and he is just tall, and dosent even try on the ice. He is a one way player he dosent play defense and will not go pro like people say he will. If he played AA he would not even stand out.

When i saw wheeler play for the first time this year against SSP i was checking back to my program multiple times to see if #17 was actually the storied Blake Wheeler. He did not stand out one bit to me, but on all teh scoring you could hear his name in there, whether it be assist or goal. i couldnt understand how this kid who looked like he was bent over and appearing to try and skate cuold be this highly hyped player?! its actually kinda cool how he slips under the radar, but is just in that right place at right time. i was very very surprised when they announced the line up that they didnt have him playin first line.hey..the kid is good..but i dont know how he does it
