A verbal committment does not equal signing with the team.

With that being said, I hope he sticks with his choice; the Gophers will need someone to fill Ballard's skates.

Better in 2004-2005?

schieds they already got a Ballard replacement in Goligoski but the addition of other blue chip blueliners only means a possible title again in the future. All you guys who knows hockey will confirm that the likes of stellar blueliners and solid goal tending were key to back to back national titles. With guys like Martin, Demarci, Hauser, Weber and #3 now playing for Calgary (sorry brain cramp) the golden rodents win titles!
Wished they had Niskanin for a skilled thumper on the blue line. Nice to have the great skilled set up guy and the bruiser defensemen by his trusty side. Ballard misses a guy like that this season. Ballard will be back next season (my guess) as the NHL is 273 million in debt and a lock out is almost certain. I would take that #9 from Centennial too!

Pretty sure Ballard will remain a Goph for his senior year because his rights have been traded so there is no immediate need for him to join the NHL. I wish that Paul Martin stayed or his senior year as a Goph because there would be even less doubt in my mind that the Gophs take home another National Title this year. I also hope that Jon Ammerman joins the squad after his senior year in high school. It would be so exciting to see people I go to school with now play for my favorite college hockey team ever!

Let me rephrase, Ballard does not want to go to a team that is as bad as the Coyotes. It would therefore be better for him to stay in the WCHA with the Gophs for his senior year. FYI the Sioux are going down this weekend and will be just the first of many casulties to come. HaHaHa!!!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... cae2005 at: 3/17/04 6:28 pm

Goligoski is a gopher, and i'm not sure of any other guys that they are recruiting.

I think it would be nice if they could have got Brian Lee to play for them but instead he is a Souix-idge<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Ballard got traded to Pheonix, where they DO need immidiate help. Before he's rights were with the Avs where he didnt. There is less chance of him staying now then before.

OH ya. The Golden Rodents dont stand a chance. Go Sioux!!!

You mean the Golden Rodents may get BEAT by the Sioux this weekend. The Golden Rodents are just another trail along the warpath to victory, a NCAA championship.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

BALLARD

If the nhl avoids the lockout Ballard is tuning pro after this season. The lockout could change things but he had already made his mind up to turn pro after the season ended.

That is true wcha fan i know Keith Ballard personally and he says that if there is no lockout next year he will deffinatley go pro for phoneix but if the lockout happens he will of course finish out his year with the best college hockey team there is.... the MINNESOTA GOLDEN GOPHERS.... blue line chip for the gophers

I expect Hagemo to make a significant contribution to the Gophs next year. Lee, Ammerman, Anderson, Giligoski and Hillen are all good players but Hagemo has the fire and tools that separate him from almost anyone he plays. Hagemo would still have a senior year to play this fall should he have continued to play in Minnesota. I believe he is the best hockey player to come out of the Minnesota youth program in some time.

Remember boys the first year Minnesota won its title they didn't win the final 5 championship either, I expect UND and Minnesota to meet one more time this year in the frozen 4. But on a different sheet of ice look for a different outcome. I will agree that the U of M is getting alot of big names to commit to them but also is UND. Lee and Oshie are soild players plus the goalie Lammer is his nick name, not sure of his name but know I heard hes as good as any goalie in college hockey. If he is as good as they say thats really all UND will need, the players they got comming back will be enough to run the table, they need a solid goalie and it looks like that help is comming next season.

Yeah but look on the UND Roster. Smaby, Stafford, Parise, Bochenski, Murray, Lundbohm. Those are some of UND's top players. What do they have in common? They are all from Minnesota. So when someone above mentioned Minnesota being the "State of Hockey" he was right on.

Well, actually, Murray IS from Minnesota, at least as much as anyone else whose family moved to Minnesota.

Yes, he was born in Canada.

However, his family moved to Faribault in 1998. Brady played his Bantam and Midget hockey at Shattuck and he became an American citizen in 2003.

Sounds like any other immigrant family moving to Minnesota to me! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... oldshad at: 3/21/04 7:05 pm
