Well, it was their first time down there, so they were a little overwhelmed. Yes, 16 goals is a lot, but those might have been their two worst games all year, it's just too bad it had to be down at the state tournament. Plus, every other team down there was good too, so just give Virginia some slack and some much deserved credit. Clearly, they beat Hibbing to get there, and that says enough? Good job Blue Devils!! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... towatch at: 3/7/05 4:45 pm

you're right, I am mad hibbing didn't make it, but i still want to know what went wrong: was the competition that tough, or did they just play poorly. I only saw the quarter final.
In heaven there is no beer. That's why we drink it here.

where have you been man, apparently not down there. Yes, the team was very flat footed and goalies did not play well at all. Only ones who played decent really was nisky, can really count on that kid. otherwise team was very flat footed, got outskated, and defense didnt clear the puck from the front of the net.

Yes they did play horrible and that really sucks because Hibbing and more talent and depth then the last two years.virginia just got a couple lucky bounces and they played the best game of the season in the finals against Hibbing. It would have been fun to skate down there one more time.

hey now, virginia had great depth, skated 4 lines all year. the goals were quality also, not lucky. Just face the facts, Virginia outplayed Hibbing and deserved to go to state, too bad they didnt play good down there. if they played like they did against hibbing they would have gone much much farther. too bad their bad games came at the end of the year, since they played good all year. oh well. great job blue

"Every team down there was good too" I don't think Shakopee or Little Falls were very good. Also I hate when teams make too big of a deal just making it to state. If you make it you might as well do well. I mean it's like they gave up after they won the section championship. Yes they did have a great season. It's just too bad they had to go out on such bad games.

I think all Virginia fans are disappointed in what they (didn't) accomplish at the tourney; however, making it to the tourney DOES count for something. STA wasn't the punching bag that everyone said they were....I remember reading a post stating that STA was equivalent to Silver Bay.....Do you think Silver Bay would have hung with Warroad 4-0??? I think not. Also, Albert Lea was probably a bit better than advertised.....they were unfortunate enough to draw Warroad in the first round, but beyond that, they won both games. No one knew what to expect of them because of their 'off the path' schedule, and I think they proved to be one of the better class A teams in the state (5a excluded). It WAS a great accomplishment for Virginia to make it to state, but they were (clearly) no better than the 6th best team in the A tourney, where the dropoff from 5th to 6th best was significant (from Albert Lea/STA to Va/LF/Shakopee). Virginia probably finished where they belonged - with no hardware. But I still say that they accomplished a great deal by JUST GETTING THERE. When you are one of only 8 teams, you can hardly be considered a failure. Also, with only 6 seniors on the team, you're talking about a pretty young team here. Give'm a break.

This thread is doomed...

I highly doubt any team gets to state and just doesn't care about going further. Every team wants to win the championship, but some have a hard time putting up with the emotions. I think Virginia really let their emotions get the worst of them and immediately panicked when they were a goal or two behind. Their expectations were not the highest of the tournament. Heck, their expectations were higher because of the pressure on them to do well rather than their skill.

And Hibbing lost to Virginia in the section finals. Say what you want about Virginia not deserving state and Hibbing did deserve it...whatever...the team that wins the section is the team that deserves it so no more whining. Your team had their chance, and either they blew it or Virginia is better. Either way, you're not as good. I pull for range hockey, but a lot of people from Hibbing: Idiots.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... onCamry at: 3/7/05 11:06 pm

Blue jackets- By your comments, I would have to say that Hibbing must be really bad then, cuz we (VA)scored, what 5 goals on you in the finals and we could only pull off 2 against STA. Hibbing claims to have and I would agree, it has an awesome tender in net. So, explain that! It over! The Devils will only be stronger because of this. My opinion there. So, if you think you can do any better, we will see next year! Until then, work on improving your and spend less time cutting down others. It will not bring you up!
