I'm hoping that you are referring to 1989 and not the 89 best goalies.........
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

No they do not have any 89 goalies. Philippi is a 90 and Mcananey is an 88.

If my memory serves me correctly, Chad Erickson, Warroad, was the best goalie of '89.

Are you guys forgetting about STA's goalie Aaron Crandall...? If it weren't for the spectacular play of Senior Cam Voss (who has lead them to the state tourney) Aaron Crandall would for sure be starting at goaltender for varsity and may be the best 89/90 goalie in the state

To my knowledge, some of the goalies that have been named on here did not play varsity, and it would be hard to speculate if they are the best or not, i.e., Crandall (who is a 90 and not an 89), if they have not played at the varsity level yet. I believe Topher played JV as did Hartzell. I know both Patterson and Gruggenberg (sp?) are both 89s and played at the varsity level and did very well. I also believe there was a sophmore goalie by the name of Ellingson from one of the northern teams that played varsity and had a good season. Park Center also had two sophmore goalies (Langseth is an 89 and I don't know the name of the other goalie) that played very well even though they did not have a great record or a strong team in front of them - they saw a lot of shots in a tough conference.

Patterson by far. He put up huge numbers against Shattuck, Totino-Grace and Breck. Also against Blake.
