Grand Forks is very good.

But the best in Minnesota right now would be Brainerd.
Duluth is just getting up and running with a full compliment so they will be tough to beat down the road.
Moorhead, I believe is short of numbers but have quality kids.
Bemidji also is short in numbers, but have 2 good goalies and a few kids that cvan score.
Grand Rapids, as always is good, but I don't know if they have the stud line that gets you there.
Chisholm - I have no idea.

Walker is short of numbers and experience at a higher level.

If I ranked right now -
Brainerd
Grand Rapids
Duluth
Moorhead
Bemidji
Chisholm
Walker
But Bemidji could beat anyone above them - so that means there are at least five decent teams up north.
Not sure if any will be able to beat the 2 best in the metro, but it is still early - especially for jr gold.

indeed, your correct about the early season rumblings. to further expound on your list, of the teams listed, who has the most strength regarding skaters who had been cut from the varsity/jv ranks and/or opted not to play high school? i would venture a guess that both moorhead and duluth fit that profile...maybe not.

I think duluth is the top team in the North. Can anyone else say they have beat EP. Duluth upset EP in the Minnestonka tournament and they finished 2nd in the Spirit of Duluth. Duluth did fall to grand rapids early in the season but since they are a completely different team. I don't know much about brainerd but i have heard they are pretty strong. I still would take Duluth. They have already beat EP, Minnetonka, and Eagan to name a few. They will continue to get stronger as the season continues.

Duluth doesnt have any star players but they do have good players. There goalie played fantastic against EP and he keeps them in the games and they take advantage of that.
