How does everyone think Bemidji will be this year?

I'm expecting them to have a very good season personally. A friend in the area keeps me updated and expects the same. Out on a limb (sorta) I see them winning the section this year...not a big stretch IMO. I was told the loss in last seasons section was the worst they played all year. Good chance to correct that this season. I'd be interested in hearing about who will be the biggest threat(s) in their section.

They will be strong with the addittion of Osborn. Coaching may be the issue. Can he handle the talent and put it all together? That's the big question in my mind.

A lot of people will be disappointed if the girls are not in the State Tourney.

Rick Coe is assisting Matt Menne this year, so that brings a lot of experience back to the bench.

Bemidji's girls at state and
Bemidji boys in the section finals with an upset of Moorhead or Roseau to get there.

I won't argue the Girls to State comment. But your Boys will be defeated by St. Cloud Apollo, who will upset Morrhead or Roseau to make a return to the Section Finals. :o

Bemidji defeated by Apollo? i dunno about that.

Anyway, girls should be top notch this year. they have lots of punch on offense and a solid goaltending core.

I have seldom cheered for a St. Cloud HS team in my life (Travis Winter's team is the only one I can remember).

I guess that has to change this year.

But I still think the 'Jacks have a chance at surprising teams this year.

S Dog - The girls team is solid.

Matt Menne is president of the coaches assn and is a very competent coach to say the least.

Rick Coe is assisting is a great thing too. This may be one of the best coaching staffs in the state in fact!

I wouldn't be surprised to see the girls team upset in sections this year.

i watched the lightning from rapids and greenway play bemidji in the hibbing iron range scrimmages this past weekend and they played a fast game. Osborn didn't play her best but that's to be expected in the early season. I think bemidji will do great and the leadership that Captian Josefson will bring to the team will help with any problems they may have in their coaching staff

Last Night Bemidji beat Brainerd and Josefson was on fire with three goals
When she was on the ice she was the best player from either team .She had a hat trick in the 4-o win.

I have heard that this Osborn girls family moved to Bemidji this summer. Saw her play for Crookston, a pretty good goaltender. But a friend of mine from up north says she wasn't the only girl to move to Bemidji this year. If this is true who are the girls and where did they come from? Just curious.

Christofferson a Soph forward (very good player) moved in from Park Rapids with her family.

Last year two families with hockey players moved into town, F Erickson and D Reutzel (sp).

Bemidji surged back with the help of a Courtney Josefson Hat trick to defeat the Spuds 4-2 Sara Erickson netted the other Jack goal on an assist from Josefson. Osborne was strong in net turning aside many Spud attempts. This is Josefsons 2nd hat trick of the year giving her 6 goals on the young season.

Bemidji is young and good! The team was very fortunate to have Osborne move in since the goalies behind her are questionable

questionable? i don't know about that. the girls after osborne are young, but they have all been to the state tournament as youth hockey players and played in selects, elites, super series ect. the entire goalie corps in bemidji is solid.

i agree with that. The goalie right under osborn, oh jeez i can't remember her name... kaia? well i have seen her to play wonderfully and it's a shame she hasn't gotten a chance to show off her skills as she has many

I think Sele is a tremendous athlete and I know the coaches have faith in her.

The JV goalie (is it Smth?) is young but seems to have ability. Strength and athleticism comes with maturity so I think she will be fine also.

Of course, Osborn is a very quality goalie and helps the program and the other goal tenders in just being able to watch, learn, and not have to deal with the pressure of being the go to gal.

Osborne has had some prior success, however she is coming off a very ho hum season with the Pirates. Save % around 87%? I thought the Burke girl looked more solid last year. How is Ozy preforming in the nets for Bemidji? Sounds like maybe some younger tenders were robbed at developing their skills at the varsity level. Are any of the younger girls being developed for next year?

Two sophs Sele and Smith have split some varsity games and pretty much all of the jv games for Bemidji. They've both been solid in the past. Last year, Sele was the high school backup and Smith played 14U i believe. The future outlook in the nets is good for the Lumberjacks.
