ELK RIVER @ CENTENNIAL (DECEMBER 7th)

Both these teams had surprising loses. Centennial being blown out by Roseville, and Elk River losing in a tight game with Brainerd.

Hanna, Voightlander, Singer

Seibert, Martell, Slavik, Brodhag

Big conference game for two teams looking for a starting point.

Predictions?

The elks have too much D and Hanna seems to be struggling look for the elks to pull out a 3-1 victory in this one

I'll take the Elks in a 4-1 game. But both teams will be hungry, especially after Centennail got trounced 8-3 and Elk River was upset 2-1 by Brainerd.

The Roseville win was not a suprise, they have lots of fire power and will be solid this year. If you consider them a suprise, look for them to suprise all year long

I did not mean it was surprising that they lost, it was surprising how they lost. I figured this to be a much closer, well played game. I'm not trying to take anything away from Roseville

Right on. As far as this game i expect elk river to win. i cant see centennial going too far this year. I'm not sure how far the Elks are capable of going either though, I have never seen them play. elks win by at least 2 goals, but no more than 3.

I think people will be surprised, given the bad loss that centennial had, that they will come out and outplay and beat up on elk river...

It's fitting that this game lands on Pearl Harbor Day:

Centennial 16
Elk River 0

The battle of the northern Cinderella teams with the misleading names:

Centennial of what? It was only one year (stealing one from Hill in order to breeze through the rest)!

There are no Elk by that River... just one guy pretending to be a cowboy!

The Elks won this one 4-1, making my prediction correct. \:D/

Tony Seibert of Elk River made 28 saves on 29 shots. Only goal against came when he didn't have his stick.

Tony Rogers of Elk River had 2 goals.

Siebert was great. Wish he could have blanked them though, oh well.

Martell and Slavik are amazing defensemen. They really looked good out there. Just really smooth skaters and they make it look so easy while they do it.

Centennial never really got going. After the Elks got those 2 back to back goals, it was all over for the Cougars. Hopefully they can regroup or it will be a long year for them and they might do poorly in their conference too. I think they will bounce back though and start playing good hockey soon.

Overall it was a good win for the Elks.

It was pretty impressive to see the Elks score 2 goals in six seconds

Yeah it was.

Those fans are great too. Always love the big cardboard hands and the chanting.

I don't think they will ever win the sportsmanship banner at state, but some part of me thinks that they are ok with that, lol. I don't mind either.

Saw some of those old jerseys with the Elk and smoke on them, they were pretty nice. I had forgotten what they looked like.

i personally dislike the big stupid hands. what happened to kids cheering and chanting with their voices. you'd think Carrot Top was performing with all the props these wimps use.

the only thing i saw the elk river student section do was a thing where they looked like they were imitating gorillas or beavers. centennial's fans were quiet too.

neither one of these teams controled this game. it was a lot of back and forth, and not getting anything set up in the zone, unless one of the teams was a man up.

elk river seemed to have more potential of the two, if they can finish what they start and handle their passes a little better as the season goes on. centennial didn't impress me much except for Hanna Hanna Bo Banna. same with Siebert, this was definitely a goal tender's show, which i really enjoyed.

Ouch! The Cougars may be in for a long year. They won't be down for long though. The next three years they will be among the best every year.
