Bears vs. Colts-Superbowl XLI

Thank God the Colts won that game, I was debating not watching the Superbowl if it was Bears-Pats. I'd love to see Manning and Dungy get a ring, they're both class acts and great figures at two of the most important positions in the game. Plus, I just flat out hate the Bears.

My prediction:

Colts 27
Bears 17

I think Grossman crumbles under the bright lights and Manning erases any doubts about his legacy.

He crumbled under the bright lights of the NFCC game, OBVIOUSLY he will for XLI.....Two words Peyton Manning

Colts 31
Grossman and Bears Offense 0
Special Teams and Bears Defense 10 (INT for TD and INT with 0 yards of offense followed by FG)

Wouldn't have mattered because of the penalty...

But yes, he does need to.

He almost fumbled, but it wouldn't have mattered. They called the Pats for roughing the passer on that play when their guy barely touched his head.

We've already had the Super Bowl, that AFC championship game was as good as it gets. It's rare that a game lives up to the hype, but that one did and then some, it was one of the best games I've ever seen. Anyone think Reche Caldwell will be playing in a different uniform next year?

I'm with Breeze, I don't know if I could've watched a Pats-Bears final. Dungy is definitely one of the class acts in the league and it would be nice to see him hold up that Super Bowl trophy.

I know anything can happen but the only conundrum I can see is the number of points that the Colts will win by. The Colts defense has played very well in the playoffs so I don't see the Bears offense getting many points and I think the Colts offense will be able to do enough against a very good Bears D to win the game. Indianapolis has already faced some really good defenses in the playoffs, I think this game will be a lot like the game against the Ravens which means it will be kind of boring and we might see a Super Bowl record for field goals. I'm picking the Colts by ten, 16-6.

It didnt matter to me. Either we were going to hear about how Tom Brady and Belichek walked on water or how Peyton Manning finally made it.

So now we have 2 weeks to hear about of how Peyton finally made it.

I like da Bears.

They remind me of some of the old Steeler teams.

Which Steeler teams are you thinking of packerboy, the circa 1970 team, before Bradshaw became a Hall of Fame QB? The Steeler teams from the mid to late 70s were some of the geatest ever, their defense was as good as the Bears and their offense was as good as the Colts. In my opinion, the Colts have been playing more like those Steelers teams, the Bears look more like the Ravens in 2001, their offense only causes conundrums for their fans and their own defense.

I hated the Steelers in the '70s, mainly because they beat my Vikes in the Super Bowl, but I've picked up the NFL Super Bowl DVD sets and after watching them, in hindsight I think they were one of the most fun teams ever. Think about it, they had a vicious defense and a go for broke offense with a great QB, wide receivers, running back.

The Steelers that beat the Vikings were a lot like the Bears. The QB was along way from HOF at that time and was under constant criticism. They relied on Harris and Bleir to run the ball. I think they got 300 yards on the Vikes and about 1/2 were on the ground

The offense had yet to evolve into what it did with Swan and Stalworth.

packerboy, the weather had as much to do with the way the Steelers played in that Super Bowl against the Vikings. It was supposed to be in the Superdome, but it wasn't finished so they played outdoors in Tulane Stadium in probably the worst weather ever for a Super Bowl. The conditions were not good for the passing game.

I think Bradshaw had been hurt for part of the 1974 season too, if you look at the season stats Joe Gilliam threw more passes than Bradshaw did. In some ways, Bradshaw's career arc was a bit like Peyton Manning's as he came into the league a hotshot rookie and fell flat on his face his first season and then turned it around to become one of the best in the league. I'd still take the 1974 version of Terry Bradshaw over the 2006 Rex Grossman without conundrum.

All right , I did look it up.

Bradshaw played in 8 games had a 45% comp rate. 7 TDs , 8 ints. Steelers were in the lower half of the league in passing stats.

Grossman is about the same TD/INT ratio(23/20) but with a 53% comp rate.

But I dont want to say who is better at this stage.

All I said was the teams are alike. Bears rely on D and running and an inconsitent and irratic QB just like the Steelers did when they first won.

Later the Steelers morphed into a very good offensive team. But they werent in 1974 and Bradshaw was a headache just like Grossman.

Ha-Ha! Is that commenting a joke? Peyton Manning is nothing without Dallas Clark...Since Dallas Clark has been fortunate enough to be catching balls from Manning he's accumulated 1,618 of Manning's 16,968 yards. And Caught 14 of Manning's 137 Touchdowns. Sure, I’ll be the first one to agree with you that Dallas Clark is phenomenal. A big-time threat who can really add another dimension to that offense. But Peyton Manning is by no means “NOTHING” without him. He's played out of his mind and at a pace few-times seen by the NFL before Dallas Clark came rolling around. I don't think that he was there when Peyton was at Tennessee either, where he accumulated 44 records: 2 NCAA, 7 SEC, and 33 of a prolific TENNESSEE football program.

As for the game, Colts pull it off.

COLTS: 27

Rex Grossman is quite possibly the worst football player i've ever seen. I would get sick if i knew he got a ring placed on his finger.

The last time a team with a poor offense and great defense played in a Super Bowl against a team with a good offense and mediocre defense Baltimore crushed the Giants. Kerry Collins and Peyton Manning aren't in the same category though. Defense doesn't win championships anymore, turnovers do. Not since Jim Kelley has the team with the substantially better QB lost.

Rothlesberger over Hasselbeck
Brady over McNabb
Brady over Delhomme
Johnson over Gannon
Brady over Warner
Dilfer over Collins-both suck
Warner over McNair-best Super Bowl ever
Elway over Chandler
Elway over Favre-even
Fare over Bledsoe
then you get into the Aikman and Young years.

Add to that both Bear losses came against AFC teams, teams the Colts went 3-0 against. And the AFC was substatially better than the NFC and the Bears played in the worst division, in the worst conference in football.

Colts 34
Bears 17

Are you saying Brady isn't as good as McNabb, Delhomme, or Warner?
