Since I know absolutely nothing about Hopkins, I will stand behind our girls and put the win with the Lightning! This again, is if Havel is in nets...she seems to be the one at this time!

Predict Hopkins ekes this one out by maybe one goal, should be a low-scording defensive affair.......Hopkins 2-1

with a 4-3 win over Breck Friday, they will win both games.

Lightning 5
Hopkins 4

That is my prediction.

Having seen GRG play Breck tonight, I still say Hopkins wins the next match tomorrow. But now I think it might be more like 4-2 Hopkins. Hopkins is overall a better team than Breck, IMHO. Expect another good game though! Glad GRG came down for the weekend, they picked a couple of good opponents to strengthen them for sections

Grand Rapids/Greenway 5
Hopkins 5

In overtime...

For GRG:
Newton (Horgen, Gallop) PP
Gallop (Erickson)
Clafton (Bialon)
Clafton (Horgen)
Clafton

Clafton with the Natural Hatty. Lightning went up 1-0. Trailed 3-1. Then made it 3-2. Then it was 4-3. Then 5-3. Lighning got two to tie. Clafton's third was with 22 second left to tie it. I should have stayed with my initial pick which was 5-5 overtime tie. Too bad I changed it.

NEVERMIND:

LIGHTNING WIN 6-5 IN OT

Bialon from Arola for the winner. Lightning outshoot Hopkins 35-33.

GRG 6
Hopkins 5 OT

That is a final.

Grand Rapids/Greenway JV beats Hopkins JV 4-0. I believe if they win their last game they will go 20-5 this season. The Varsity team now stands at 17-7.

Too bad the JV's don't get some kind of post season action. Not just GRG but all JV teams. I knows our's ends up at another local team's tournament, which I guess is a lot better than playing your last regular season game and then that's it.

P.S. Congrats to the GRG varisty on their fine weekend play against some good Twin Cities competition. I've never seen them play but just had a feeling that they would not win both of these games. They must be very good and now favored to win the section and go to State?

Edit: I just checked the game stats and see that Hopkins's normal first string goalie did not play. When I saw the score I was surprised that GRG was able to get 6 goals against them, and maybe that explains some of it.

I'd have called it differently had I known Hopkins wasn't playing their lead goalie 'cause that's the only one I've seen, haven't seen the other. Sounds like it was an exciting matchup :?

Looks like both teams played their number 2 tender...
