Note: Scroll to the bottom for links to the results for nearly 200 wooden roller coasters worldwide.
After climbing to #1 last year, Six Flags Great Adventure's "El Toro" remained at the top in 2012. "El Toro" had
no close comparisons among mutual-riders this year, beating #2 "T Express" 11 to 5 and #3 "The Voyage" 88 to 60.
#2 "T Express" lost only to "El Toro" among mutual-riders. It is the fifth straight year in the top three for the
South Korean ride.
Three-time #1 "The Voyage" is #3 in 2012. "The Voyage" came very close to finishing #2 this year,
losing the mutual-rider comparison with T-Express by a slim 9 to 7 margin.
"Boulder Dash" is ranked #4 in 2012. Consistently good, "Boulder Dash" has finshed in the top six in each of its 13 years.
Mutual-riders kept "Boulder Dash" from overtaking "The Voyage" for third place by a slim 57 to 52 margin.
#5 "Phoenix" continues to defy time. It finished #4 in 1994, when none of the other 2012 top 25 were yet built!
Liseberg's "Balder" is the top European finisher this year, moving up two spots to #6.
Waldameer's "Ravine Flyer II" finished #7 this year.
The three new for 2012 coasters were all given high marks by those who have ridden them:
"Dauling Dragon" of China's Happy Valley had only 11 riders take the poll, just making the cut for the final results.
The two sides of this 2012 dueling coaster placed #8 (Left Track) and #9 (Right Track).
Europa Park's "Wodan TimburCoaster" had over 100 first year riders take the poll and placed solidly at #22.
Indonesia's new "Animal Coaster" was ranked #3 (of 137 wooden coasters ridden) by its only rider who took the poll this year.
Heide Park's "Colossos" rounds out the 2012 top 10, #10 for the second straight year.
Special thanks to the 635 people who took the time to participate in the 2012 poll (all 635 ballots)
and more than two dozen great roller coaster sites that linked to the poll.
Holiday World is again the park with the top wooden coaster duo (#3 The Voyage, #24 Raven),
and trio (including #41 The Legend).
At the other end of the poll, Walygator Parc's "Anaconda" made it a threepeat at the bottom of the poll. Fifteen time
last place finisher "Grizzly" placed second to last, 16 mutual-riders preferred "Grizzly" while just 9 preferred "Anaconda".
The following chart shows the mutual-rider comparisons for the top 13 coasters. Preferences are listed
for the people who rode each pair of coasters. The chart should be read from left to right along the line for
each of the top coasters listed at the left. For instance, it can be seen that El Toro was preferred to #7 Ravine Flyer II
105 to 15 among those who had ridden both coasters.
