Re: USHL Draft on May 6th

Guys in the goalie know.

Whatever happened to these Minnesota goalies?

Isaiah DiLaura - Lakeville South
Ryan Ullan - Hibbing
Keegan Karki - SCC

Ullan and Karki were out at USNP but I lost count on if they are still playing.

Re: State of Hockey's Team

I threw up some HS-centric thoughts on UMD over the weekend: https://apatientcycle.com/2019/04/15/doggedness/ I made a mention of the Hermantown-UMD connection there, which is obvious. Looking back at recent rosters, the only real front-line D-I players over the past decade from Hermantown who didn...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

You've just taken away the incentive for a kid not Div. I committed upon completion of HS to even try to get there. I fail to see what is so evil about a kid 18-20 staying focused on hockey. They've got a lifetime ahead to work and may very well stay out of trouble. I see what you are saying but it...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Honestly I think it is dumb that you have to play multiple years of juniors to play D3 hockey. NCAA D3 should make a freshman age limit of 19. You've just taken away the incentive for a kid not Div. I committed upon completion of HS to even try to get there. I fail to see what is so evil about a ki...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Obviously turning into a Lucia type pout fest on here. ..  College representation is creeping up in percentage in the NHL and the longer development is turning undrafted players into future NHLer's. A win-win. Go ahead and watch the 18-21 year olds play 35 year olds in the NHL if you can...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Great stuff...Nice work on digging up the info... We need to see more kids play out their high school careers versus leaving early Do you know how many went right from High School to college? Age wise they are considered a "young team" in comparison to the other 60 D-1 programs The question is...If...

Re: 2019 HP U17 or U16 Boys Rosters?

I can be a little slow a lot of the time, but I don't understand the logic of how extending the season out is "giving the kids a break" Getting it done with as soon as possible after the natural hockey season and then putting the skates away for the summer as much as possible is giving the kids a b...

Please keep him away from the Wild until they demonstrate it's not a franchise high draft picks go to to either die or be traded away for nothing.
Exactly right. Crayon eaters making all the decisions for that organization.

Relax old timer...Man this forum has become such a place to bash anyone who speaks their mind or offers up an opinion on something

Why?

My only point was trying to give families a little break from hockey. I guess that makes me the town idiot
All I am saying you boys are hilarious

It looks to me like they’re setting up to go with 3 classes after the next meeting in two years which I’ve heard (on here) is going to be a big change.

Welp, not sure what happened in the last month with the Brainerd thing. Anoka in, St. Francis and Cambridge to 5A. Nonetheless, no more super easy game for the 1 seed in 7AA. No more play-in game. 4 southern teams, 4 northern teams. Not sure how I'd rank the teams next year since I don't know anyth...

6A 1. Cathedral - return a lot, and barring injuries or defections it is their section 2. Alex - graduates a great senior class, but will still be #2 3. Sartell - losing a lot of good seniors too. 4. Little Falls - Had some strong younger players who should only get better 5. River Lakes - will cha...

Re: Class A 2019-2020

Denfeld losing a ton. They will have 2 forwards and goalies. Period. The 2 forwards returning were Denfelds leading scorers. Denfeld loses #3 & #4 leading scorers but gain at least 4 forwards coming up that can play and score. The forwards coming up are more complete that play far better both ways ...

I am the same way with LaPanta... I will watch the Wild on NBCSN but can’t on Fox. I am a hockey guy, we are killing ourselves with travel and cost. Renting a gym is cheap, renting ice is not. Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

Interesting backstory on the A/AA split and its advocates. (I was in diapers when that happened. We're at the point now where a couple generations have no memory of single-class hockey.) It made me wonder how many more teams would've gone to state over the past decade if we still had single class h...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

The one class tournament would suck and it would have the same 8 teams every year. It would improve nothing. Totally agree. It would kill interest in hockey for newer programs and small schools. That ship has set sail a long time ago. Agreed. 1 class would be a boner move. I do like the 3 class ide...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

I don’t think anybody is saying we should go back to a 1 class system. I just think there are AA teams that play A and those teams should move up to keep with the spirit of allowing other teams a chance to play at state instead of having two state tournaments that have equal caliber teams so the fa...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

Opinion.....the Texas high school football tournament is now the best. Football doesn’t lose their “top” players to crap junior leagues. Hockey loses some players to the USHL or NTDP but still lose some to tier 2 and tier 3 leagues. Do you watch it? I'm curious because it has SO MANY DIVISIONS, whi...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

Also, blaming the MSHSL has some merit but but the League gives far too much leeway to the coaches associations. A small minority of coaches, largely from 7A schools, pushed the 2 class hockey through. People from NE Minnesota complaining irk me. Their coaches put the 2 class system as we know it i...

Lakeville/ North has made every section 1AA final since 2004. Century last made a 1AA final in 2009, they won it that year but were in the 1AA final 8 out of 10 years in that decade. John Marshall last made a 1AA final in 2005. Austin won a 1AA title in 2001, they haven’t been in 1AA since 2004 May...
