State Tourney Predictins for JV
1-Roseville
2-Roch. Mayo
3-Roseau
4-Grand Rapids
5-Eveleth
6-Stillwater
7-Duluth East
8-Hudson Wisc.

This is pretty close but maybe 1 or 2 flaws. If i missed a team let me know. Brett Follmer and Brad Dean are the dynamic duo paired on 4th line togather. Their other wing doesn't matter because Brett and Brad do it all.

Eveleth, are you high? We could have easily beat them both times we played them and we are far from one of the top JV teams in the state

Re: State Tourney Predictins for JV
Where's Woodbury and when di JV get a State Tournament???

Re: State Tourney Predictins for JV
Woodbury is good but they lost their first game in sections to forest lake 6-2. Woodbury undefeated season came to an end too soon and Roseville capitalized by beating Roch.Mayo 6-3 in the state final. Matt Harold of Mayo got a hat trick but that is all Mayo had to offer.

Re: State Tourney Predictins for JV
Really din't kmow FL was in Woodbury's section. I guess this didn't in account the season series was 2-0 by a goal margin of 6-2 Wow ???

1942
JV actually had a state tournament before varsity did in the year 1942. It went on strong for 27 years but after the goat fiasco of 1969 (which I think we all remember) the tourney was discontinued until the year 2004. This year Roseville pulled off the upset win beating Ely in triple OT 4-3. Brett Follmer notched a hat-trick for the Raiders and took home (not to his home) the MVP award.

GOAT FIASCO
It all went during the semifinal game btwn Grand Rapids and Hastings at the Colliseum. Some hooligans letting out from the Cloquet vs. Mayo game were walking by the barn where all the farm animals were kept and they must have seen an unlocked door. They let out 7 goats and a chicken from the barn and took them through the back way to the Colli. Midway through the first period the guys opened the doors and let the goats and the chicken run wild. What resulted was mayhem, the chicken was taken out by a hard slapper from the point right before the whistle blew. The whistle set off the goats who panicked and started running all around. 3 Hastings kids were sent to E.R. after a goats rammed them, 3 goats suffered broken legs, 1 goat pulled a hammy. Most of the Grand Rapids kids were too traumatized to continue their hockey careers. The events that took place were deemed the "Goat Fiasco" in the headlines of the sports page the next day. The Goat Fiasco gave the JV state tourney a bad rap and attendance plummeted so badly that only 42 people attended the championship game a year later. The board decided to discontinue the tournament until it was finally resumed in 2004 when goat-safe boards were introduced at hockey rinks all around Minnesota.
