| Seems like a lofty goal. The last couple years have been a struggle keeping players with that program. Sounds like it will get better. Good luck! |

| First question to be asked, who are the coaches at these levels going to be. |

The other "first question" to ask is why does the Herb Brooks foundation allow a guy to continue to create a program for his own kids benefit? Seriously if HERB was alive there is NO WAY he would endorse an ELITE program. Herbs dream was to broaden the base of the pyramid. More players = Better hockey but also HErb wanted to get new players to love the game. The Miracle program has been missing the mark since it began and that will not change given the leadership of the program.
This from Herbie himself (listed as the goal of the program on the front page of the foundation website):
There are a lot of positive things, but we also have to watch out for the 'doing too much too soon for too few' syndrome. Basically we need to stop narrowing the base of the pyramid. We need to make hockey fun for the kids and let them learn to love the game the way we did.
Do you see any contradiction between the direction of the Miracle program and Herbs desires? It is truly disappointing that the Miracle program continues to lead the foundation around like a puppy. Foundation wake up and do what Herb would want....make a difference for those that need it not the ELITE hockey player. |

If anyone needs more detailed information, has a specific question or concern about this program then please feel free to PM.
Miracle GOLD will "broaden the base of the pyramid" - more participation, and offer an excellent development package to our participants. Herb Brooks said...

You can pay more for training somewhere else, but you don't have to.
Again, the website www.MiracleGold.org will be up and running next week. |

This could make for a good discussion topic. You say broaden the base, is this done by offering a program only to "ELITE" players? because those kids obviously don't have anywhere else to play.....Miracle had a great start had they truly followed Herbs philosophies could have really done good things for hockey. The Gold program is contradictory.
For the record, Herb wanted to give opportunities to kids that are less fortunate, or maybe don't have the existing skill set to participate throughout the year. I do not believe he meant to cater to those kids/parents that already participate day in and day out 365 a year.
Will the players be required to play with their actual age group or will special allowances be made for move ups?
Further do any kids get free spots?
I will wait for the website. Sorry to ask so many questions. |

Will the MN Made and MN Blades kids that Miracle bring in for Tournaments be paying Next year, or do those that currently pay for Miracle know that is what is happening?
What Elite tournaments will they be in?
Elite Tournaments are Invites, and I’m not sure they are invited!!!!
You have to be successful in Open tournaments before you get to the Invites…
Good Luck RS… |
