Former MN players:

USHL Forward of the year: Jake Randolph/Duluth East
The United States Hockey League today announced that Jake Randolph of the Omaha Lancers has been named the 2013-14 USHL Forward of the Year as determined by a vote of League coaches and general managers.

Randolph led the USHL in scoring with 86 points (26g, 60a) while appearing in all 60 regular season games. He finished 12 points ahead of the next highest scorer, and it was the second consecutive season that he played every single game for the Lancers. His 60 assists set a new USHL Tier 1 era (2002-present) record for most in a season, breaking the record of 59 by John Kemp of the Indiana Ice in 2007-08. Randolph dished out two assists in the final regular season game for the Lancers to break the record, including an assist with just 1:06 remaining in the third period of the 4-2 win against the Sioux Falls Stampede on April 5th.

All-USHL 1st Team
Tucker Poolman/ East Grand Forks (D), Omaha Lancers

The 2013 NHL Draft pick of the Winnipeg Jets led all USHL defensemen with 15 goals this season, including a hat trick in the 6-5 win over Muskegon on October 27th. He finished third among League blueliners with 41 points (15g, 26a). His 10 goals on the power play ranked tied for eighth overall in the USHL and first among defensemen. The East Grand Forks, Minnesota native served as captain for the Lancers and posted a plus-20 rating. He is committed to the University of North Dakota.


ALL-USHL 2nd Team
Peter Krieger/St. Thomas Academy (F), Waterloo Black Hawks

The 20-year-old appeared in all 60 regular season games for Waterloo and put up 67 points (26g, 41a) to lead his team in scoring and finish fifth overall in the USHL. During one seven-game stretch, he netted nine goals which included three straight two-goal efforts. He also posted a plus-26 rating to rank tied for 12th in the League. The Oakdale, Minnesota native is committed to play college hockey at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

Tyler Vesel/Rochester (F), Omaha Lancers

The forward was third in USHL scoring with 71 points (33g, 38a) while appearing in 49 regular season games. His 33 goals tied for second in the League and were the most by a Lancers player since the 2009-10 season. After dishing out two assists in his USHL debut, he scored six goals over his next four games. He equaled a League season high with five points (1g, 4a) in the 8-3 win over Tri-City on December 27th. The Rochester, Minnesota native is committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha.




USHL All-Rookie Team:

b]Tyler Sheehy (F), Waterloo Black Hawks/Burnsville[/b]
The native of Burnsville, Minnesota tallied 49 points (21g, 28a) in 49 games for Waterloo, tying for 20th overall in USHL scoring. He had 16 multi-point efforts this season, including four multi-goal games. He tied for 14th overall in the League with a plus-25 rating. The 18-year-old currently is tied for the playoff scoring lead with 14 points (7g, 7a) through nine games. The University of Minnesota commit was ranked #200 by NHL Central Scouting in advance of the upcoming 2014 NHL Draft.

Charlie Curti (D), Cedar Rapids RoughRiders/Mound
The 17-year-old was one of three players on his team to appear in all 60 regular season games. He put up 23 points (4g, 19a) to tie for 20th in scoring among USHL defensemen. During his USHL debut, he dished out two assists and established a League season high plus-five rating in the 6-3 win over the Lincoln Stars on September 27th. The Mound, Minnesota native also converted three times in the shootout, second-most among USHL defensemen. He is committed to Yale University.

Hayden Shaw (D), Waterloo Black Hawks/Woodbury
The University of North Dakota commit put up 29 points (8g, 21a) in 53 regular season games to tie for eighth among all USHL defensemen. Seven of his eight goals were scored on the power play, tying for second among League blueliners. After dishing out two assists in his USHL debut, the 17-year-old from Woodbury, Minnesota then scored a goal in each of his next four games, including the overtime-winner in the 3-2 victory over the Green Bay Gamblers on October 18th.
