Evil for abusing Class A for so long. And I guess I've always had a soft spot for Hill, so I've never properly embraced their evilness.Goldyismoldy wrote:What AA empire has STA built? EP/ Middlestadt will have lots of fans outside the EP crowd...Hill....not so many.

Well, you weren't around in 1975. Or 1991. Plenty to embracekarl(east) wrote:Evil for abusing Class A for so long. 2002 quarterfinals, everytime Lakeville was on the power play Hill played tackle football because the refs would not put them down two men, cripes, even Nanne mafe a stink. In OT two Pioneers run into each other at tge blueline and Lakeville gets called for a penalty. Hill wins it on the powerplay. The ref who called that penalty never officiated again.....karl(east) wrote:

They've been evil since.
They came in on the coattails of St Agnes, St. Bernard, Austin Pacelli, Sleepy Eye St. Mary's, etc. Schools thst needed the MSHSL more than Hill needed them....I know we both know that....

If you'd take the day off Thursday and come up to the tourney, we could discuss it further.goldy313 wrote:"Followed the rules"Goldyismoldy wrote:I remember when Hill joined the MSHSL. I was at the game in 1991; it was fun to watch from my seats.karl(east) wrote:Hey now, I was around in 1991! In diapers, but around.east hockey wrote:Well, you weren't around in 1975. Or 1991. The Two Otter Defectors Potential Matchup.
An additional storyline here is the potential meeting of two former Otter youth hockey linemates #16 for the Cadets and the leading scorer #6 for the Spuds. It will be fun to see those young men play at the X.goldy313 wrote:There are so many story lines here.....
Grand Rapids.....small school from the North
Casey Middlestadt returning to win it
Moorhead a bridesmaid so many times
The evil empire back again
STA made a name and a program by getting Lakeville defectors....how about that for Thursday?
Wayzata, defending champs with a losing record....
And Maple Grove.....didn't they have a shooting there recently (that's all I got there)
Best of luck to all of these young men!
Come on Lee, don't you remember Richfield (who was the favorite) doing all the whining when East beat them? They said East was too physical and should have been called for a lot more penalties. I didn't agree, I thought East played a great game against a good team and beat them soundly...karl(east) wrote:Hey now, I was around in 1991! One of my favorite games to re-watch. Physical destruction. Mike Thomas was fun to listen to.Sparlimb wrote:Come on Lee, don't you remember Richfield (who was the favorite) doing all the whining when East beat them? Two things about Sparlimbs crew.....
1)They cheer hard and know the game....
2)They eat a lot of cheese pizza on Friday.....
They fill my section and are nice people......unlike the Wayzata folk who were escorted out mid game by St. Pauls finest last year after the first period snd beyond. Luxury box people no less

You are right for the AA era. 5 is the most, done 1 other time.Sparlimb wrote:So I'm not going to take the time to look, but I believe we have 5 #1 seeds in sections that didn't make it this year (Lakeville N, Edina, Stillwater, Centennial, and Elk River).
Anyone want to care to guess if that's a record? I'll say it ties a record...
2007- Cretin, Roseville, Holy Angels, Cloquet, and Moorhead all missed it.
Fun fact. That year was also the year MSHSL started seeding the tournament. 3 of the top 4 seeds went down on Thursday, leaving friday night's semi-finals to feature 3 teams that weren't even seeded #1 in their own section along with Rochester Century who upset HM to give 1AA it's first quarterfinal victory in a dozen years.
I guess that's why we play the games.
I wouldn't put any money on any one of the quarter final games this year. Anyone can beat anyone. I'd be most surprised if Lakeville South won it, but anything can happen. One team will be the hottest and that will be enough.DubCHAGuy wrote:You are right for the AA era. 5 is the most, done 1 other time.Sparlimb wrote:So I'm not going to take the time to look, but I believe we have 5 #1 seeds in sections that didn't make it this year (Lakeville N, Edina, Stillwater, Centennial, and Elk River).

EP #1, throw the rest in a hat and draw them out. While it will be interesting to see just how the seeding works out, all that really matters is who draws EP. They are clearly #1, but I've seen stronger #1's.
It would be interesting to see the final tally on the voting, compared to previous years. I'll bet it will be by relatively razor thin margins compared to most years. If there is a tie, do they flip a coin?

It's often close since only 5 votes actually count.East Side Pioneer Guy wrote:EP #1, throw the rest in a hat and draw them out. While it will be interesting to see just how the seeding works out, all that really matters is who draws EP. They are clearly #1, but I've seen stronger #1's.

I'm hoping the Russians aren't influencing the vote. Or maybe I am...boblee wrote:It's often close since only 5 votes actually count.East Side Pioneer Guy wrote:EP #1, throw the rest in a hat and draw them out.
