Centennial is so unpredictable. When they are on, the cougars can play with just about anyone. I caught the end of the first meeting with Maple Grove, and that was an exciting game. Hopefully the rematch will be just as entertaining. Also, Rosemount and Delano is just a weird matchup, particularly for a weeknight.

Hibbing & Greenway 1-1 after 1 period. Should be a pretty good game with 2 rebuilding teams at least for end of season placement in post season.

Hibbing 6-2 over Greenway final. What I thought might be a close game has turned into a blow-out. Ugh.

Maple Grove being 7-4-1 overall and losing to Centennial 6-3 (!)—with the insane depth and talent they have on that roster and a history of doing nothing but winning at the youth level—is inexcusable. Time for a major “Come to Jesus” moment with the program.

1. Edina-Cretin: Raiders the better team tonight. Coasted downhill through the 3rd to win 4-2.
2. Maple Grove-Centennial: Exciting upset for the Cougars.
3. Eden Prairie-Prior Lake: Eagles over a Lakers team that continues to disappoint.
4. Minnetonka-Eastview: I need to see Eastview play. Another quality victory.
5. Wayzata-Buffalo: Tough night for Buffalo that has looked impressive in other games.
6. Elk River-Champlin Park: It was close like I expected.
7. Rosemount-Delano: I knew Delano was capable because of how they demolished Buffalo.
8. Grand Rapids-Duluth East: No surprise as Greyhounds not able to keep it close.

This was a fun game to watch as a Cardinal fan. The boys did a great job shutting down the slot and just about anything Fergus shot was from the outside and easy for Pfeffer to see. The first goal Fergus got, the Otters were able to get in front of the net and got a rebound goal. Their second goal was on the power play I believe (there were only two penalties in the game, both on Alex).

Alex definitely came into the game looking to prove something as everyone was anointing Fergus the Section champion from the get go.
