Why does the U of M seem to lose some of it's best players?

Post by minnesota4hockey »

is it just me or does it seem that the gophers let some of the best players in minnesota go? i know i can think of a few off the top of my head that they've lost recently... both parises, oshie, lee, i know that cc has 12 minnesota kids on their team... im sure there's more that i don't know about?

Who knows, but this next years class is going to be insane. They should win it for sure in the next three years.
Spittin truf since 85

Well i think cc has got a lot of kids from Rochester so if they keep lookin at kids from roch more kids will go there from her cuz they'll be playin for a good D1 team and playin' with kids they grew up with in their home town. I'm guessin thats where nick cansanelo will go cuz his brother plays for them and that last of the stuart boys from roch is a junior there so it's kinda a tradition thing. Also it seems like a lot of MN kids because rochester has the most players in semi-pro and pros right now than any other city so if our town keeps producin good players it might be like that for a while. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... smokin.gif ALT=":smokin">

Not every good player from Minnesota can play for the Gophers. There are 206 D1 players from MN this year. The Gopherss are doing just fine with recruiting. Don't fret.

Not to mention how can anybody say the Gophers are really missing out on anything with the two classes they have coming in for 2005 and 2006? That's not to say Rau and some of those others are not good players but Lucia has recruited another top rated class for next year (Red Line Report had them at #3 overall and they could vault to the best class if they land Kessel) and they already have the early lead for the best class for 2006 with elite players like Erik Johnson, Kyle Okposo and Peter Mueller. One would think the Gophers have 50 scholarships to offer.

The thing is the U or M doesn't give out many full ride scholarships. Chad Rau was offered like, 50% or something (as reported by a reliable source). The Gophers save money and still get some great players. Can't complain with that.
