And I could say that Roseau "choked" last year in the section championship when they were up 2-0 early, but I won't go there either....

How about the skinny

Post by Renegade Ram »

I've read two almost three pages of spew now. How about describing the game. I had to be in Crox last night and was interested in this one. I called a buddy after the game said McMillian's line played great and Jordy was a ghost. Any other in-depth details worth mentioning - goaltending, defensive play?....

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... m>Renegade Ram at: 1/25/06 10:36 am

It sounds like another poor game in net for the spuds goalie, too bad Beau Christian left I hear he's having a good year.

I dont think Moorhead fans have ever thought "nobody can dethrone us especially a team like Roseau" that is a dumb statement from a few posts ago..

and referencing buddys post... sometimes young players have off nights... Jordy will be ready in St. Cloud...

I think the section final should be something special... Like I said earlier its been a while since Moorhead has had to work in the section playoffs.. They hadnt even lost a section game period in 35 games as referenced above... but nothing will be easy this time...

State

Post by Husker Nation »

hey I will go ahead and say it... if Roseau were to beat Moorhead at sections... through all the dissapointment i would still cheer for Roseau at state... I would rather have them win any day over the AHA, HM, or Jeffersons of the world... I hope Roseau would feel the same way when Moorhead is there.. I am not much for cheering for conferences when my team is out, but when it comes to MN HS Hockey that changes... I would cheer for Roseau... (this from a diehard spuds fan)

That was not the case as both goaltenders played well. I would have to say it was one of Alex Bjerk's best games of the year and as far as Moorhead's Kunde, I thought he played well also.
Ram Hockey

I'd have to agree.......the spuds goalie did not play bad, and had some decent saves of his own. Most goals if not all were the result of good plays by Roseau.....not poor play by the goalie - Kunde.

I wasnt at the game... but how could Kunde have played well if he coughed up 4 goals (excluding the EN).... they gave up less than 30 shots defensively.... its not like he was getting peppered...

You bet I would .. just like I do for Warroad.

I've been a Spud hockey fan since back when we couldn't beat anyone in our section let alone 35 times in a row.

The Spuds play a brutal non-section schedule and are plenty well-tested come state tourney time.

I've seen Christian play in 4 games this year and in each one it's been very obvious he has special individual abilities... not that he isn't be a team player .. it's just that that hasn't been the obvious part.

Sorry to have missed this matchup but hope to see one in Cloud.

Most of this thread makes me think there are a lot of high school users participating.

Maybe give credit to the other team for playing well? Bottom line, your goaltender did not play bad.......if you ask those in attendance, possibly some of the prettiest goals of the season!

You can get peppered with many low quality shots, or get an average # of high quality shots......

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... To get 26 shots, 5 goals, and only give up one against a quality team you have to be playing well. That being said 5 goals on 26 shots is a lot, and Moorhead has a recent history of giving up soft goals. Being a Moorhead fan I hope the goalie is playing well. For the record, the only time I cheer against Roseau is when they are playing Moorhead.

Spud 86, I was wondering what you were trying to say with the high school users comment? I'm not a high school student, but I would think that many of them are closer to the program then a lot of posters.

I just wanted to address my earlier statement on moorhead fans. I didn't say that Moorhead fans don't have class. I know that there were educated Moorhead fans that were probably shaking their heads about what was going on in the student section. I have nothing against Moorhead ( I used to live there). I have seen worse things done without a doubt. The intensity and rivalries in MN high school hockey is what makes the sport so much fun to watch. Its just too bad some people take it to far and tarnish what was a great, wellplayed game by both teams. Moorhead has a good team and well turn some heads in state if they make it. Good Luck to all!

It is difficult for a goalie to stop odd man rushes and Roseau had quite a few last night. 2 odd man rush goals, 1 rebound goal and one open break. The Spuds goalie made an incredible save on a breakaway that would have given the Rams a 3-0 lead and he stopped a number of 2 on 1's. Too justify the loss by blaming the goalie is unfair to your tender. He had a nice game. If a goalie was playing poorly, each team could have easily had another 4 to 5 goals.

Goalie

Post by Husker Nation »

Good to know.. I was asking because I wasnt there and didnt know the situations.. sounds like Kunde played okay and that the spuds had other issues.. although the Spuds goaltending has been in question for years... Chad Beiswanger was the last decent one and he wasnt even that great.... I think Beau Christian could have been good this year, but shoulda woulda coulda...

roseau speed

Post by goldv »

I believe the difference in the game was the speed of the ram wingers. and the great passing, that first line made one end to end rush with great passes 20 to 9 to 22 for a goal. also 20 threading the needle to 9 for a goal. and the turning point was the goal by the big defender 24. seem to put a fire in the step of the rams.
High School Hockey best game on earth!

general talk

Post by scbn27 »

after reading all the posts of late i'll comment on them. Ive lived in roseau for many years played moorehead in many hockey games back when they really sucked... ive never seen the fans act without class. i always cheer for the team that comes out of section 8 weather a or aa. i cant stand the private schools! as for last nights game moorehead golie played great made alot of nice point blank saves from the slot roseau looked faster and much more physical and in my view just beat the spuds down physicaly. it will be a toss up in the sections which ever team goes i think will do a good job in the state tourney as a dark horse....
