Woodbury should be good next year too. Both of their Peewee B teams went to regions and their Squirt A was good. I believe their PWA also had some good first year talent.

That Eagan team this year had something like 12 first years Pee Wee's, if that is true that is a good foundation for a VERY good season next year.

Also, look at the Wayzata teams, both of their B teams were ranked in the top 5 at sometime this last season.

Obivously just guessing here, but something to throw around.

Yes Eagan's Squirt A last year was COMPLETELY DOMINANT. My brother's team played them and lost 15-0 and got outshot 60 some to none. Talk about domination. They walked past every other team they played too.

Edina's Squirt A THIS year was certainly better than anyone they played. Now, last year (04-05), the Hornets were down a bit.

Yeah they only won 3 or 4 games all year but Eagan I think went undefeated. A lot of those kids were 1st year Peewees on a PWA team that was runner up in districts to a very good Lakeville South team. And there will be a few kids moving up from a PWB team that won districts. I also think their Squirt A had a good year this year too so throw in some good first year talent and you've got yourself a pretty tough team.

I agree with hendy Eagan should be awesome next year, so should Woodbury. Of course Edina should be good, when are they not good Apple Valley too they had 10 first year Peewees this year and the Squirt As that will be PWA next year were undefeated last year, so they should be really good as well. Don't forget SW/SLP from what I heard they also have 10 or so returning next year. It should be interesting.

where does the idea that Woodbury will have a good peewee A team next year come from? At best they will have 8 kids that can play at that level. They will need to fill 7 holes. They had no 1st years on the team this winter.

Well then that team sure was small for being a bunch of second years. Anyways both of their Peewee B teams were good, along with their Squirt A team, and they were pretty good at Squirt A 2 years ago, just making a prediction that they will be good.

PeeWee A teams, players next year

And what of Edina? Only two first-years coming back and the loss of Walker & Sit to bantams.

Peewee A 2006-2007

Post by JLS 81 »

Like to hear from all the teams to see what they have coming back for next season. Off the top of my head I sort of know that Duluth East will have only 2 or 3 guys returning from their peewee A club. So they will rely on the peewee B group second year guys to fill in and as well the squirt A's . However Mike Randolph will most likely have them ready to compete come Fall as Mike works the kids pretty hard all summer. Grand Rapids is in the same boat as well carbon copy of Duluth East with only 4 returning from a very good peewee A club. Curious to know about Moorhead, Brainerd, Hibbing, Lakeville South, Edina, Wayzata, Roseau just to name a few. I might be wrong but it does sound like a lot of teams in Minnesota will be rebuilding with first year talent. Can all you fine posters fill me in on the various clubs in the fine state of Minnesota?

Edina returns two skaters, but one is on a long-term mend, so his status is uncertain. Squirt A's were probably the best team in the state this past season (29-1-3), won Fargo and three other tournaments. the B1's had their moments, but probably had what Edina would consider underperforming seasons.

Minnetonka should be rock solid at PWA - good run at B1 with some really strong first years on this squad.

wayzata will likely be strong at peewee A next yr> heard they have a couple of returning A players /13 or 14 coming up from B1's that were on teams in the top 5 all yr // a large (25+?) group of B2's that were almost un-defeated all yr in addition to a good group of squirt A's moving up too ...

Eagan & Wayzata will be extremely good Edina has excellent coaches year in and year out E.P. will be rebuilding, the rest of the teams are unfortunately in a lower level of "A" hockey.

You can count on the following to have top team's next season (They have top teams EVERY YEAR).
Wayzata, Edina, Eden Prairie, White Bear, Duluth East, Moorehead.
Getting into this same catagory now are teams like ....
Stillwater, Lakeville, Centennial, Maple Grove etc.
All the above teams are good teams year in and year out. Some years there is more/better/deeper talent than other years, BUT they are always very good/solid teams. There are a few reasons why they are always good. Tradition, Coaching, Work Ethic (play all year round) AND Lots of players (ie:100+ or so players per age level).

I'm much more curious, personally.
Who are the teams not listed above that will be good next season at the Peewee A level?

We have heard:
SLP/SW and Apple Valley are both teams to keep an eye on with 10+ returning PWA players for each team.
Eagan should be solid again, returning some solid players as well as a good group of players that did very well at B1 this season.
Brooklyn Park did very well with this group at Squirts 2 years ago and have alot of returning PWA players.

I know Brainerd returns 7 skaters and the goalie from this years PWA. Moorhead will be solid as they return 5 skaters and have a solid program.

Brainerd??

Post by JLS 81 »

cornermukker,
How did Brainerd not get the #2 out of district 15 this season? I saw that DL team in Regions and it was hard to fathom Brainerd losing to that club. What happend?

Well, it was probably our worst game of the season. Actually ... things were on a downward slide the last 3 weeks of the year. There was not a bunch of team unity either, which I believe makes it difficult, and those things need to be nipped in the bud early, and were not. This group when they were squirts had a mix of 12 second year kids and 3 first years. They didn't get along well then. This year it was 7 first years and 6 second years, and it was some better.

Now I will say that next year should be a pretty decent year. These kids all get along, and have stayed in the program since they started. We will see... there are a couple that are very good and are leaders.. How bout rapids next year??
