Grand Rapids Running
I'm not sure if you guys have hear about the kid from Grand Rapids but he is from the Czech Republic and is living with his uncle. He went out for cross country and found out he can't run varsity. The best part is that he is one of the best runners in the country and runs JV. The kid set the state record in MN by like 18 seconds. He wins his JV meets by like 3:40, and would win the state meet by about 35- 40 sec.
I think that that Minnesota State High School League should be slapped for not allowing kids from other country the ability to play varsity sports just like the kid from Mahtomedi.

Re: Grand Rapids Running
The Mahtomedi AD took the responsibility for not doing things correctly.goinbardown wrote:I'm not sure if you guys have hear about the kid from Grand Rapids but he is from the Czech Republic and is living with his uncle. Perhaps someone in GR did not follow the rules correctly.

There are rules. There are exceptions to the rules. To get an exception, your AD needed to file the paperwork. Don't blame the rules. Whether he's from another country or Greenway makes no difference.goinbardown wrote:I'm not trying to get any feelings. I just think that if the kid is from another country he should be able to play just like the football kid. I'm just thinking that it would be cool to see the best guys run at the state meet. Only problem is they aren't

As sad as it is that he will miss the season their opponents have to have a bit more optimism about playing Edina. If you would like to argue that you are wrong.Goldy Gopher wrote:With your comment in the Budish thread you should probably followBash Brother wrote:Ya, he should roll himself right off of this message boardGoldy Gopher wrote: Cornbread's on a roll in this thread.

It has nothing to do with that. It has everything to do with you commenting that this is "good" for another team. It was a crass comment, and I'm amazed you don't understand this.

There are people and teams that opt up. Obviously your not one of them.Bash Brother wrote:I understand they way it could have been taken. But if you mean to tell me that if you had to play Edina in an important game you would rather play them with Budish rather than without then you are lying.
I say this because i know how talented he is.

Im all for a challenge usually, but i feel that the Edina team will have the ability to be absolutely dominant even without Budish.
I realize that it is sad for him to lose a hockey season, but life will go on. As a gopher fan i am also a Budish fan.
I simply meant that Edina's opponents will have a better chance to be competitive without Budish in an Edina uniform.
