Ok. So I'm not Icey...I'll give you my predictions anyway.
I'll take Rapids over Crookston, in a close game. 3-2.
Could be the Erickson/Wheelhouse show.

GRG/Crookston

Post by SEhockeyDAD » Wed Jan 04, 2006 9:57 pm

Which team has the defense that can shut down a Wheelhouse or Erickson? And which team has scoring depth if a defense loads up on the main scoring threat?

Well, no doubt Crookston's got the goalie power. Their goalie is amazing. Crookston also has some great defensemen who work the puck well with eachother. However, in this match I think that Rapids has the scoring punch that is needed. Even if they do overload Erickson (which teams have tried, and failed to do in the past) they still have a pretty significant scoring group. I think GRG has the depth factor over Crookston.

Do not know much about Rapids other than scores against common apponents. They apparently have a very good team. Crookston desperately needs a win against a team like this to gain some respect. I like the pirates in this one on home ice with something to prove. Look for a close game with the home team winning in ot 4-3. Come on iceman where are you?

Crookston at home

Look for Rapids to get "homered" at the Ralph.
Rapids is a better team but will come up short 3-2.
Fellow posters need to get of this "Crookston's goal tending is awesome!" kick. Average at best with excellent defense in front.

What the hell do I know?
It's all just a guess on my part, except the goalie part.

Okay, so maybe they aren't the best team in the league. But terrible might be a little drastic, they have some top notch players.

What happened tonight? Who scored the goals? Did they shut down Erickson well?

C-town vs GR

GR is a very talented team. Take NOTHING away from them. They have two outstanding lines that can fly up and down the ice. They might be lacking a little bit on the defensive end, though. Erickson scored one goal and had no assists. She was basically kept in check throughout the game. Will be interesting to see how GR does today against Moorhead.

GRG may be a decent team, however, they do not know how to win. Period. I'll take Moorhead by a goal or two today.

_________________

BOB

No lie there, they played very below average, selfish hockey. The defense was very weak at best the entire weekend.

_________________

BOB

That's all I've really heard lately of the Lightning is about their selfish play. It's a pity with a team with that much talent that they can't pull it together and work as a team.

GRG

In their 1st game at the Schwan Cup, GRG played a very good New Prague team, held them to 3 goals, (NP can score a lot,) and could have pulled out a win with better luck. Then Rochester Mayo/Lourdes scored 7 on them and Crookston 6. If a team scores 3 goals a game, then they should stand a good chance of winning, but not if they allow twice as many goals as they score. Sounds like they just have to get back on track, defensively.

Hm...don't know why Bobby is freaking out. Whatever. Can we make any assumptions on tomorrows game for the Lightning against Cloquet? Can they pull it back to beat their section rivals and gain back some dignity?

They are bound to play a good hockey game tonight. It is a winable game if they work together and play as a team, not individuals. Again, I look for the upset in this one. Good luck to the Lightning.

I was also wondering what Bobby was freaking out about? He picked C-town to beat GRG (but thought they were playing in the Ralph.....maybe that's it).
Should be a good game against Cloquet. I would have to lean towards Cloquet in this one. GRG seems to be struggling right now. Hopefully, they'll come out of it.
GRG is going to be a VERY GOOD TEAM next year, as I don't believe they are really losing anybody.

I didn't recall seeing any seniors on the first two lines of forwards......maybe one? All in all, they should have a formidable team next year. Their best players are in 8th, 9th and 10th grades (at least from what I saw). They have any good goalies coming up?
