Wayzata 9
Roseau 3

It was 3-3 after 1 period, then the penalties started. Roseau had 34 minutes in penalties. Lots for contact with the head which is never called up North, never heard of it before, but they called it over and over on Roseau. Wayzata was probably the better team but the ref's didn't give Roseau much of a chance in this one.

put it this way i was a prospectur in the game not their for neither team but roseau got screwed in the game againist wayzata and if wayzata is happy about that they should be ashamed of them self by letting the ref's win it for them how much was the coach paying the ref off since the wayzata coach kept calling the ref over was it big or small

STATE TOURNEY/PENALTIES

Post by puckstopper 30 »

IF ROSEAU RECEIVED 34 MINUTES IN PENALTIES, THEN THEIR COACH WILL BE SITTING OUT TODAYS GAME. PLUS I'M GUESSING 1-2 PLAYERS MAYBE SITTING OUT
ASWELL. I'M ALSO GUESSING THAT THE REFS WERE FROM THE CITIES AREA. LET'S SCREW THE TEAMS FROM THE NORTH!!

The refs are from all over... It makes it fair, so you have a D6 ref with maybe a D12 and a TC ref...

I Am What I AM

If the refs are calling the hits to the head, then maybe the team should stop hitting at the head?????? A good team and coach adjusts to the way the refs are calling the game.

The officials working these games ARE from all over. The District-Referree-In-Chief makes or approves the final decisions as to who will officiate these games. There are four levels of officiating: Levels 1 through 4. The person referreeing was no doubt a Level 4 Official while those working the lines are no less than Level 3. These people have put in their time and have EARNED the right to be on that ice officiating those games. 'Head Contact' has been a rule and penalty for at least the past three years. It is an easy call to make although I have not seen it called consistently. One can bet that in the district, regional, state or national tournaments for that matter, penalties will be called to perfection. There is also a supervisor of officials at all these games observing as well as substitute officials if needed. 34 minutes in penalties? Weather or not the Head Coach is suspended for the next game depends on the total number of penalties and not the penalty minutes. Any player receiving five seperate penalties will serve a game misconduct...

I was at the Roseau vs. Wayzata Game. I have been referee for many years and I' d have to agree that Roseau got screwed in this game. Although Roseau may not have won the game with better officiating, it would have been a much better game to watch if the official had let the teams decide the game. In this game a linesman called a too many men penalty that if you were going to call this type of penalty both teams would have been shorthanded most of the game. Also I was at the banquet and the officials in this tournament were from district 15 11 and TC. That is what they announced at the banquet. Also I agree with mel31hockey. I can't figure out what an official would talk to a coach so many times for in a game and one time it was for over 3 minutes when a penalty was called on Roseau. Bottem line I'd like to see these 2 teams play and decide the game.
