If they stay put?

Post by jr »

If the juniors stay put it could go down as one of the best classes ever produced in Minnesota. Here are some names.

Brian Lee
Jon Ammerman
Matt Niskanen
TJ Oshie
RJ Anderson
Chad Rau
Blake Wheeler
Rob Dee
Brian Connelly
Justin Bostrom (Juniors)

I'm sure I have missed some. What a wonderful group of defensemen!

Lee obviously is going to win, he already as a full scholarship to UND which he accepted early this season, He also had offers from UM, UMD, and other great D1 teams. Right on his tail will b probably Wheeler or Vandevelde of Moorhead

with all the hype of RJ Anderson this year, i was excited to see him this year at state. wow i was very dissapointed in what i saw, and some compare him to crowley....<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> but i then saw ammerman and lee. ammerman is a good player but i thought lee was better. he was smart with the pucket and seemed to always know where his teammates were. Compared to brian connelly i think hes better then ammerman and anderson. Lee on the other hand is more sound as defenseman and not as much offensive. Connelly is a more offensive defenseman who can see the ice better then anyone and is faster then all of those D. just my thoughts he should be in the running for Mr.hockey next year....

Wej:

I saw in the St. Paul paper's "All State" team that he has not committed to play College Hockey anywhere yet. Do you have any idea what schools are talking to him, I know he is a junior and it is early but I was curious where he might play after High School. He has to be considered the big reason that Jefferson overachieved and won the Lake Conference, and finishing fifth in scoring in the Elite League showed he can play at the higher levels. I would like to see him play at one of the Minnesota schools if possible.

Lee for Mr. Hockey next year

Post by WolfpackFan05 »

This is Donavan Haugstad from Kittson Central and I've been really good friends with Brian since a young age and he is a great guy. He deserves to be at least a candidate for Mr. hockey next year. On and off the ice he is a great leader.

I'd put Hibbing's nick selden @ the top of the list Definately best defense in the state followed by niskinen and Shea Walters. Go North, cities teams suck.

Gr Mr. Hockey finalists

Post by goalie91 »

Do you think they actually have 3 candidates for Mr. Hockey? They should have done much better this year if that was the case. I think GR19's optimism is starting to spread like a plague up there.
Wheeler or Oshie will get it. Both should have tons of points playing A when everyone knows they should both be AA.

Mike Kramer probably won't get it based largely on the competition he faces. He is a good player, tied for 5th in scoring as a Junior in last falls Elite League. People look at kids from Breck and Blake and they get more credit than a kid from Como, but realistically Blake and Breck don't play schedules all that tougher than Como will.

No doubt that Rau, Connelly, et. al., face tougher competition nigtly than than anyone from Blake or Como will, but to disregard him based on the fact he plays in the St. Paul City Conference is a joke. Scott Thauwald was disregarded because he played in a weak Big Nine Conference, yet he plays at CC as a true (no USHL year) Freshman, Jamie Hoffman was disregarded because he played at New Ulm, again CC thought highly enough of him to offer him a scholarship right out of high school, no USHL. I'm sure there are many other quality candidates at other non-traditional, non-metro schools as well.

Nothing against Nate Dey, or any of the others mentioned. I have seen a few of them and they are truly gifted players who deserve to be considered. With the development of the Elite League, I hope the voters for Mr. Hockey take into consideration what some of these kids do in that league as well as their numbers in high school.

We'll all have to wait and see how many of these kids show up in the USHL next year instead of high school, I hope none.

Nope... You're wrong...

Post by NorthHockey12 »

You're wrong about Kramer not getting it because he plays for Como. Kramer will not get it largely upon the fact that he is about 99% sure he is leaving for Juniors next year. Maybe he will stay his senior year to go for that last shot at making it to State, but I'm pretty sure he's going, going, gone.

I agree with this list but you definitely need to add Shae Walters of Hibbing. He can flat out play this game.
