MaxPreps Stats
The last couple of years it was easy to look on SportsHuddle for team stats - who's scoring, which goalie is playing, etc. On MaxPreps all I can see is the game score, roster and schedule. Am I just missing how to find individual stats? Is there a better site to look for these kind of stats?

I don't think you're missing anything. I've been checking pretty regularly (hoping for updated info) and I believe it just isn't there. Disappointing. My guess is a lack of info being provided is an issue...but that's just a guess. Sure hope the situation improves...soon. I'm checking another site regularly. it isn't any better.

For this reason, until the MaxPreps & MGHCA options are working, I'm still maintaining the site I have up that should at least carry every score. I don't know if coaches will use it as some did last year for full stats/boxscores, but at least it should have all the scores (and stats for those teams that wish to enter them).

I've also added a "JV" component this year for any teams that wish to archive their JV stats/boxscores/scheudles/results as well.
My issue still remains with all other sites out there - but I'm holding out hope that the MGHCA site will be a "complete boxscore" site at least. A score without a complete boxscore tells me absolutely nothing about a hockey game.

I noticed that the stats portion is now starting to get put up on the MaxPreps page, but no individual stats as of yet.
Question I have is why does the MSHSL page not post these, and keep better track of them, do they not have to keep a database any way?
It seems awkward to have to navigate multiple sights just to get all the stats you would like to see.

It's worse than that, go to the Strib and read the instructions for entering scores, They want you to enter thwm both in MaxPreps and send them to the Strib directly as there is no tie between them.
So know you have to send results to the Strib, St Paul, MSHL, and MaxPrep not to mention your local paper, Goski and potentially the Girls Coaches site if it ever gets up.

Yes - all of these are issues. I think the Coaches site will come up and be great eventually, but I don't know if it will have complete boxscores. This being said, I want a way to electronically archive my boxscores, carer stats, etc. so I will continue to use the site I maintain and anyone else is free to as well. It's not hard to enter the stats for a game in there and send the link to maxpreps, papers, etc. as that would take care of it I think.
For example:
See the career stats for:
http://www.esportsdesk.com/leagues/rost ... 5037&pos=G
or:
http://www.esportsdesk.com/leagues/rost ... 5037&pos=F
Also...
SportsHuddle
However, this is:
MGHSH
This I think would be even better:
PointStreak
And even this wasn't bad back in the day:
VarsityOnline

Partial, but not complete (scoring time detail, etc.) In my mind, this is not a complete boxscore:falcons89 wrote:I do find box scores on this site.

What's New for This Year?
Regarding stats collection, MaxPreps eventually stabilized last year, but it certainly was not designed with hockey in mind! Hopefully they'll make a few more improvements this year, but I'm not holding my breath about it!
Is the MGHCA going to come up with a tool this year? Is the MSHSL league going to improve their website? Is the www.esportsdesk.com site going to be running again? In other words, what tools are likely to be in place this year? Is MaxPreps, because of the StarTribune's presence, the only game in town?

Re: What's New for This Year?
I will keep the www.esportsdesk.com site going. It has every Varsity score from the past two seasons +. No other site can claim this (yet)hshockeyfan91 wrote:Regarding stats collection, MaxPreps eventually stabilized last year, but it certainly was not designed with hockey in mind! I understand the MGHCA coaches assn site will be up.
I don't know that MSHSL will update. VOL years ago tried to work with them to no avail. I think they should just embrace one of the other sites out there as their official site... They let pointstreak do a demo at G HS State last year that was good. MaxPreps worked out OK in end but it appears to lose the detail that I for one like to at least have the option to have as in other sites & archive wise. Cool to see career stats too as in the esportsdesk...
