I got really nervous in overtime, though Edina played some great defense. I'm not sure Burnsville had a single shot actually go on goal during OT.
I think at the point of the 2nd Edina goal, they had 13 shots. They ended the game with something like 48 shots. Not counting the penalty shot, Becker saved 34 straight shots.
Caschetta looked shaky at first, giving up a very soft goal, but he rebounded well, making some great saves, a good sign that his confidence isn't as easily rattled as before.
Also, who else was really excited for the penalty shot? Those are some of the most fun moments of hockey.
The penalty shot was a lot of fun. Great drama, the Burnsville student section was going nuts making noise while Lee lined-up at center ice and they kept the cheer going while he went in on goal.
Wrist shot top left. Just like in the movies.
On the notion that Burnsville will be back, I beg to differ. That top line and the goaly are seniors.
I was on the far side from the goal, so I may be wrong, but wasn't it bottom left?
Your probably right, I was watching off to the side.

Why wouldn't you hope Edina kills Roseau? (Not going to happen.)

If they match up I predict Edina by a couple. Just too many weapons.

so alright tonights game was well played by both teams, and one of the most exciting games ive watched this year. heres wat i thought
Burnsville:
- goalie played outstanding
- lots of effort and played with alot of heart, espectially Hendo and 2nd and 3rd lines did really well too
- but barns was pretty typical and not really doin much when he didnt have the puck, but when he got it, it was beautiful (somebody mentioned he might of been hurt or somethin but im not really sure)
- team just played a heck of a game all around
Edina:
- extemely talented but what seemed like lack of effort by some, not all, but some players, resulted in burnsville scoring and getting more shots/oppertunities then they should have
-GOALIE IS THE BIGGEST JOKE EVER (anyone who didnt already think so already probably lost all respect for him when you saw burnsvilles first goal)
- in the end, turned it up a notch and played great hockey and should be exciting to watch in the tourny
- anders lee is sick
great game by both teams, its sad that one of these teams had to lose because they were both amazing teams with who had outstanding seasons
Lastly Edina's poor goaltending is probably gonna hurt them, and probably cause them to struggle in the tourny

Go Hornets!!!!
Budish/Everson/Lee....can there be 3 mr. hockey finalists on 1 team?!?! cant wait for 09 baby...
so when anders goes private again is that still the same line

I was sitting right behind the BVILLE net in the 3rd and the ot. Once BVILLE tied it up at 3-3 (Giles was really pissed as a Edina player was taken down and the BV player passed it out front for the goal),
Edina just dominated the OT. They sure impressed me as did the BV goalie. The shots and possession for Edina were fantastic in the OT.

Two great games last night at the John. Burnsville gave EHS all they could handle, but seemed like they ran out of gas at the end. The Budish/Everson line was great all night, but I thought the Edina D was outstanding as well.
I agree on the 3rd Burnsville goal, obvious trip right in front of the referee in the faceoff circle that lead to a goal.

One of the reasons that Edina outshot BV by such a substantial margin was they started OT on a powerplay. Edina was the better team, but somehow BV seemed to hang in there. I wasn't that impressed with Barnes. He made a couple of nifty plays (especially that one pass between the legs), but I would have liked him and the entire BV team to have played a little more physical. Maybe that's not their style though. This was the first time I saw them play.
As good as the game where at Marriuci last night, the traffic situation was as bad. Ugh!

the first goal for burnsville had to be the worst goal ive seen all year Cashetta played horrible
and why would the edina fans keep on chanting "we got rusty" when he almost lost them the game

no that must be his nickname because they did that last time they played and i dont think they would rip on their own goalie

The Gleason kid was outstanding last night, imo the best player in either game last night.

Perhaps thinking more and posting less will help. You're not raising any new issues here.

Look at my post count... Doesn't look like I've been around the site much. So get off @#% mkay? Sorry if I posted something that's been posted alot in the past I guess.

Cash Money likes to let in a soft early one so the guys in front of him play hard.
No, seriously, the televised Minnetonka game must have been his finest hour then. He was outstanding and they would not have won with an average 'tender between the pipes.

Watching Gleason run the point on the PP and jump in the play offensively was fun to watch. I thought Gardiner from Tonka was fun to watch in the first game, but that was just a preview for what Gleason was going to do. He also threw that nice hip check right in front of the Edina bench to show he had some grit.
The one mistake he made almost cost them in the 3rd though.

That's some funny stuff right there Lee. He wants you to look at his post count but he didnt even take the time to look at yours. Rather ironic considering what the entire conversation was about. CLASSIC
And to stay on topic: EDINA once again found a way to out muscle and out hustle an opponent to the W. These guys are the real deal and they are deep. I cant imagine any team
hoping to draw them at the X.

If the bad play in the third was when the Edina D carried the puck in front of his own net and lost it, it was right in front of me and I believe it was #16 not #20 gleason

becker was classy in the loss. edina fans were classless in the win. They give the sieve to the goalie as he is standing at center ice waiting for the handshake after making 40+ saves in a thriller.

It seems that Edina is the only school which is not allowed to have any fun. Every other fan section has cute little chants and can get a little crazy, but when the Edina fan section does it, classless.
Why the double standard????

Poor Goaltending

Whoever draws Edina for the first round should have a pretty good gameplan if they were at last nights game. Get as many pucks on net as possible, and crash the net for rebounds. Man does the Edina tender fight the puck. His only clean saves were the ones he gloved, otherwise he was handing out some juicy rebounds. He looked pretty nervous out there. They have a great team, and I hope their lack of goaltending doesnt cost them a game in the tourney.
