Section 2AA Championship Edina vs Burnsville

Post by goldenhockey20 »

Well were finally gonna see the rematch against these two hotly contested teams.

Barnes, Hendo and Perisic.....a great top line. Do i think Edina has players to skate with these three??? I think Edina has three lines worth of kids that will lay burnsville a smack down

Edina 5
Burnsville 2

im going with my hometeam as always. Burnsville can skate with edina as you saw in the first meeting between these two teams. Burnsville did not have gustavson(18) or Ames(4) but still took edina to OT. This will be a highly physical game and both teams are playing prime hockey.

I still like burnsville 6-4

GoldenHockey20- just because you were/are a burnout hockey player of some sort doesnt mean you know all about the top Burnsville line..come see me when you actually talk to them and see what they think about there chances about an edina team that won 3-2 in ot early in the year, a game that bville was up 2-1 with 2 min to go....again, keep the stupid posts to a minumum.

alright grizz....so the fact i've seen burnsville play numerous times this year...or at least enough to notice that barnes and hendo rarely touch the defensive zone, or the fact that I've seen Edina play enough also to know that no matter how good B'ville's top line is... they wont be able to handle three solid lines from Edina......I'm apprently am stupid??? If you think you know everything how do they plan on handling 3 solid lines from Edina. Now ok, i understand that b'ville has probably improved greatly since the last time these two teams have played, but i'm guessing that Edina has too and the fact that they have lost 2 times this year leads me to believe that their the better team. I'm not taking anything away from burnsville but let's just compare things quick

OFFENSE: On B'ville they have Barnes, Hendo, and Perisic
Edina has Everson, Budish, Lee, Gaarder
...I believe Edina has the edge

DEFENSE: Don't see anything real special on B'ville
I see future UND recruit Gleason along with a pretty good defender in Baker as well

so with that said my apprent stupid opinion would be that EDINA wins in this won 5-2

Edina 7-4. Burnsville will get theirs, but Edina has too much firepower, also I think Leer's line is very underrated, they play great physical defensive hockey. I would love to see the blaze win this one though!

P.S grizzmint - love the name but not the flavor! (gw's is better!)

One more thing grizz...I'm disappointed on how you react to my comments....I notice you have a slim 11 posts on this board so maybe your somewhat new here but I'll just tell you this, I think it's easy to tell that your some loser kid from B'ville talking up his team and putting others down, but if you keep that up you won't find very many friends and well let's just say your beloved Blaze are put out by Edina next thurday, don't expect anyone to feel bad for ya

Anyway, I'm not quite sure on what you mean by "keep the stupid posts to a minimum" because I believe i have posted 0 of those....but I'll read through them all and check :)

First off Matt Leer is the most overrated player in the state and anyone who thinks he should be a D1 player needs to stop being retarded.

Also as much as Edina looks better on paper you cant just give them this win. Burnsville did play very well with them last time and I expect the same. Maybe this game Barnes wont hit the post on a 2 on 1 and Burnsville will cruise to a 4-1 win which would have happend last time had he scored. Or maybe Burnsville will come out flat like today against Jefferson and Edina will put it out reach within 10 minutes. Nobody knows whats going to happen but we all know that it should be a great game and whoever wins will have a great shot at state.

This should be a high scoring game for sure.
Burnsville can not contain Edina...not many can.
But Burnsville does have a chance...if...they can get into a goal scoring race, but only if the top line comes to play...The Junior line will not be able to carry the load like they did against Jeff.

However Both Barnes and Hendo played their best 2 way game of the year against Edina the first time so I have no doubt they will again.
And the coaches at Burnsville have created more depth in the Offense with the current lines. Burnsville also has better goaltending, as long as they can limit Edinas BIG line from getting in close because they are monsters in close and Burnsville's goalie is most vulnerable in close.

I'll take Bville over Edina 6-5 in a wild one.

But I won't bet the farm...and as a hockey fan I wouldn't mind seeing Edina/Roseau in the big dance final either

This should be an awesome game.
If I had to pick one, it would be tough to go against the Hornets.
They are as good as advertised for sure.

we all know that edina is the favorite but i dont think thats going to bother burnsville. As im reading these posts, it sounds just like last year. Everyone saying edina is to good for bville just like they were saying aha was to good last year. Burnsville has shown heart time and time again with all of these great combacks that they have pulled off in the past couple of years. The first line of bville has to play good TWO way hockey if they want a chance but that seems to be a problem with barnes hendo and perisic because there terrible in the d zone. Branson Mcduff and Anderson need to try and help becker by containing edinas highly skilled forwards and burnsville needs 3 lines to come out and play and use there speed and get shots on the goalie because i think edinas tender can be shaky... i think the big ice sheet will help bville prediction
bville 6
edina 4 (same score as aha bville last year!!)

golden-i guess you havent seen too much burnsville hockey otherwise you'd kno barnes and hendo are on the top penalty kill line as well... i also agree with marchmadness the bigger rink at mariuchi benefited barnes and hendo last year when they beat holy angles same story this year bville wins a close one maybe 5-4

looking forward to this game, great time of year.

Not sure the large ice surface is a good deal for burnsville. they are not a great back checking team which means the other team can get great rushes against them.

Last year vs holy ANG in the section final they were dominated on that large ice surface, it was quite ugly at times they could not handle that much ice with creative players on the opposition but had great goaltending and scored on every legit change they had.

shots were something like 20-2 at one point and 47-16 for the game.

Granted that was an amazing holy angles team so not taking anything against Burnsville at all. And burnsville showed they belonged with that State Tourny run.

Edina has 3 lines that will come in waves.

burnsville better get a healty Barnes back he looked horrible and uncomfortable Saturday and was favoring and bending his leg dozens of times on the ice looking hurt and mobility and speed was 50%. He often could not come back to play defense (Hendo and Adam did tons of work in the defensive zone however). Dont know if it is serious I hope not....that second line saved the day for the Blaze and really impressed me.

I watched both 2AA semifinals games yesterday, I was impressed with Burnsville's never quit attitude. I really doubt the big rink favors Burnsville more, in fact I would be willing to bet that Edina is the faster team. This matchup is similar to last years 6AA final (Edina vs. EP), and the result will be similar as well.

Both great

It's too bad one of these teams has to end their season before the State Tournament; they're both excellant. Although I favor Edina, Burnsville showed what they're made of in their comeback yesterday.

last time i check edina has 1 amazing line, then 2 beatable lines, all burnsville has to do to win is control the first line (not saying its an easy task at all)
