So Warroad has as many elite players at this age as District 6 (Edina, Minnetonka, EP, Bloomington) and District 2 (Roseville, Stillwater, WBL, NSP) put together.

This group came out Phase tryouts and the final 102 spent a week in Mankato before being selected.....not sure if it says the north's approach to pond hockey and creativity wins over the metro's focus on games? Or maybe this is just a really talented group who happen to live outstate?

The real question is....... How many of those Warroad kids are really from Warroad.

It really is a relevant question because most of the players played youth hockey elsewhere and those communities should also receive some of the credit for helping mold those athletes into players that are worthy of making it to the NDP camp. Aren't sylvester and the goalie from elsewhere? Now if these same players are making to the U17 festival maybe I would be more inclined to give Warroad more credit...

Most of the players only played one out of the 8 or 9 years they have been playing hockey in Warroad. Don't get me wrong its a great feat for a community this small to have such high representation, but we should also be giving credit where credit is due.

Just like with the player that plays at Blake is from I believe eden prarie and the player from hill Murray is from WBL.....

Now that someone has broached this topic doesn’t this seem a little odd? I know this phenomenon happens every year. Eye of the beholder and all that. However, even if you don’t look at the individuals and just did the math. It doesn’t seem right. The breakdown of all participants is roughly made up of 60% Metro, 20% Northern and 20% all other. So how do the Northern girls make up over 40 % of the final team, or that the Metro contingent is only comprised of 35%? What is the probability of this happening? Has this ever happen before? I mean one group having disproportionate numbers to this degree. Very peculiar one could ask. Especially in comparison with the 16 & 17’s. The percentage(s) are closer to what you would expect, between 20 and 30 percent. What got me questioning this was Joe Hockey’s statement that only three made it from the North last year (which could also be considered suspicious). That accompanied with several sources reciting how upset the North families where last year with what they perceived as unfair equity with the selections. Coincident?… Maybe… and maybe not. You heard the story about the squeaky wheel? I don’t know what to think. All I know is that all the girls selected are good players and very much deserving. What I also know is that some highly skilled players were left off the team. Some of which come from the metro. Northern resurgence? They may have the numbers but isome how it just doesn’t add up for me.

Just a side question how does the East team dominate Selects for the last 3 years but only put two players on the team. Interesting.

Here is the break out at U16 and U17 Metro vs. Out State (May not include all At Large?).

The U15 was a very long tryout process run by Minnesota Hockey.

The U16 and U17 was also expanded and ran about a month - it was run by the Minnesota Girls High School Coaches in conjunction with Minnesota Hockey.

You sound like a bitter parent with a player that did not make it. Squeeky wheel, come on! I am quite sure the evaluators and coaches at Mankato knew nothing about last year and quite frankly could give a crap where a kid is from. There job was to evaluate and pick the best players. Yeah some talented players did not make it this year but that does not mean they won't next year.

To answer your side question. The East did not exactly dominate Selects the last 3 years. They were champs in 07, got beat in the Championship by the South in 06 and who really cares about 05. Kids who work hard get better and just because you won Selects means nothing.

You should check out the results of the MN Elite for the last 3 years. I believe the North 93 girls were champs for 3 straight years.

Bitter not really…but why are you so hacked off, hacker …maybe a little defensive? Heck you didn’t even touch the numbers angle and went right for the one small element that may have alluded to the possibility of impropriety. That wasn’t my main point at all, but what the heck, even you have to admit it does looks a little fishy. Also, Just to clarify, I did hear it from the horses mouth (one of the Northern parents who were not happy). And I myself was skeptical last year when only three Northern players were chosen. Furthermore, I did acknowledge that all evaluations are subjective. However, you can’t be that naive to think that calls to the front office don’t sometimes resonate through out the company. It’s only good PR

Well…one more small point. My comment referencing to Selects was somewhat general. But since you (tried) to correct me, I just had to look it up. Let’s just considered the last two years… as you suggested. The East’s record 6-1-1 26 goals for, 10 against. One Championship and one double over time, shoot out second place. Yea, you’re right…no domination there. And your reference to Elites…please.

Maybe the North is just genuinely good.

Maybe Warroad is so good because there's nothing else to do in that town besides play hockey ha.
