These teams should be happy they aren't in 1A this year.
Exactlly! 1A 1-5 are all better than any of these teams, 1AA is usually pretty bad but with the Roch schools all down this year it really looks bad.

I think they need to re-section this section, I was suprised they didnt make any major changes in this section for this year compared to the other ones.

I agree, this is not a strong section and if the objective is still to get the best teams in the State represented in the Tournament, the MSHL will have to revise this section.

As has been stated on this board many times before, that is not hte objective. That's why we have sections like 1AA and 3A. They go by geography.

Probably because they have too many kids to be in A. I cant imagine that they opt up.

As the DCwildcats in my name implies, I live in Kasson, one of the 15 towns that make this co-op team(just kidding, it just seems like 15). Seriously, when you add up all the students in Kasson-Mantorville, Triton, Hayfield, and Byron, DC is in AA.
There has been some talk of just having it K-M, because about 75% of the team is from K-M, but it won't happen, at least not soon. To be honest, 1AA might be an easier path to state than 1A most years.
DC might actually make some noise (maybe end up in the top 4 in 1AA seedings) in the coming years. Very talented Freshman group that has beaten Rochester and southern Cities suburban teams.
Just for the record, I would agree that Lakeville North should be seeded lower. I still think Century could surprise and make it to the final game and maybe back to the X. Mayo is too unpredictable game to game, Owatonna and L'ville N have been struggling.
The 23rd should be a good day of hockey at the Rec, with the 1A and 1AA semi's all day starting at noon!

Lourdes picks and drops their co-ops to keep in A, at least Dodge County cares more about giving kids opportunities than playing A hockey.
I realize this is a hockey board but in every sport there are weaker and stronger sections and largely the teams in AA sections are the same. Tartan's wrestling team was beaten soundly by the #8 seed in 1AAA for example and Tartan won the 4AAA team title. Sections are what they are, the state tournamnet isn't designed and never was designed to get the best 8 teams in it, if it was there wouldn't even be sections because upsets can happen which would eliminate some top teams every year.

Exactly, if they really wanted the best teams in the state to play in the state tournament they would have to seed every team in the state and then play a giant single elimination tournament. As cool as that would be, it would be pretty boring for about 2 rounds Id say.
