Most of them are but in section 1AA they all just fax in there rankings. They rank all the teams except themselves. I believe whoever takes them has a points system you get a certain number of points for getting ranked 1 and then less for 2 and so on.
All of hockey should do it the way football does it with a points system all year. It works really well and you dont have any coaches voting who may have grudges.

Actually the seeds ares supposed to be posted at noon. Faxed in results are due in a.m. Tonight will probably make or break some teams(Mayo, Century) Sure will be interesting.eagle4life9 wrote:coaches fax there seeds by 2:00pm Saturday I believe. Results will be on the MSHSL website asap after that.

They should do this they should do that...They do it this way because it has worked for many years. One fact remains after the seedings are processed: The team that wins the section had to kick@ss for three games, 2 of them on soft @ss ice at the Rec Center.
Move the Championship games to an NHL sized neutral rink that seats 2000 minimum on the south side of the twin cities. That is more important than the seedings I think. The Rec Center has shatty ice and is home ice for Century and JM.

You gotta beat the best, to be the best! Woooooo!
1 point for being ranked #1, 2 for #2 etc.eagle4life9 wrote:Most of them are but in section 1AA they all just fax in there rankings. They rank all the teams except themselves. Lowest point total is ranked #1, next lowest is #2 etc. No clue what the tie breaker is. Maybe a coin flip.

You know.....I think you are right about the coin flip thing. If I remember right, there have been a few coin flips in the past. Reminds me of that high school football movie based on a true story in Texas. That one kid that Billy Bob Thornton's character in Slingblade befriended is in the football movie too. I like french fried pataters, umhum.

I see where your coming from RYHA but as a player, playing the section championship game in RCC where it is jam packed with students everywhere, the band there, etc. There arent alot of things like it and it is one of the most fun places to play.
PS-I dont care if its Century's home rink Lakeville (North) doesnt seem to care to much

I totally agree. Soft ice and DARK ! ! ! at the Rec Center.....RYHA_needs_3 wrote:They should do this they should do that...They do it this way because it has worked for many years. At the end of February nobody can guarantee good ice. Cripes, Graham usually has cones up because the cement is showing through. Since Century and JM no longer practice at the Rec it isn't as big of a deal anymore.
Points isn't a very good system unless alll teams played are in the same class. It's a nightmare in football, the MSHSL has stepped in at least twice to rectify bad point situations where a team, because of their conference, can go undefeated and still not make the playoffs (Springfield). 1AA has teams from 3 conferences and an indepentant, the Lake is all AA teams the Big Nine and Missota are largely A teams. Playing Burnsville twice can't and shouldn't be equated with playing Austin twice. The only way to make a point system is to make everyone in the section play everyone else in the section, that's how Iowa does it, but the Lakeville schools can't due to conference requirements.

Hey STC you seem sound a little bitter about Lake-North being the 3rd seed. Where would have you put them? Of the Rochester teams, where would you put them?STC18 wrote:Even though Lakeville North did in fact beat Mayo and tied Century, they shouldn't have the 3 seed since they'll soon be 2-8 in their last 10 after Jefferson today. Just my opinion.
