It's called the coaching of Wes Bolin.

I never said anybody in Woodbury is better than Alt. Mark Alt is clearly the best player of the 6 mentioned in the last few posts. Unfortunately for you, one player does not make a team. This is a case of 1 great player (Alt) and 2 decent players (Bangs, Zimmerman) vs. 3 good players (Pittman, Hyland, Gaede). I'll take the 3 good ones 100% of the time. And no one cares if somebody barely beat someone else. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. O and Pittman chose not to tryout for elite because of baseball. He would have made it had he tried out.
Keep up the banter boys. Your both fighting for 2nd place at best in the SEC. WBL takes this one easy like they have in Squirts, Peewee's and Bantams growing up.

We'll see, Squirts, Peewees and Bantams performance doesn't always equate to HS success.

I'll guess and say CDH

Well Woodbury won it last year and CDH the year before, and it s not like WBL wasn't dominant in youth hockey for those two years. Your logic doesn't check out.

wbmd, good call on the Bolin comment. He's the best coach around.

I'll give you CDH in 06, but this past year was an aberration. If WBL doesn't loose its top two players to USHL (D1 this year) and two more to suspension, its not even close. If WBL keeps its team in tact for 09 (which it is so far) they cruise to the title.

Only Jake Hansen will be playing D1 this year. Taylor Johnson won't be at St. Cloud until the 2009-10 season.

I don't see any team having a clear edge. WBL,Woodbury, Cretin all will be very competive, along with Stillwater and Roseville.

Yes CDH returns most of the kids that played Varsity for them. BUT most of the TEAM left with Borer. Now I will give you the Talent of ALT and Zimmerman. But Bangs, an untested goalie and weak defense aren't enough.

Ryan Borer scored 1/3rd of the goals for CDH last season, neither Bangs, Zimmerman or McClellen had double digits in goals. any neither was over 20 pts. Thats a lot of offense to make up.

#1 - Woodbury
#2 - WBL
#3 - Cretin

is the order for this season.

The prime difference here will be coaching. Rosemount had more talent than Woodbury last year, but we al know the outcome of that game. Rosemount was totally out coached. It's Wes Bolin and his staff that will take these boys back to the top of the SEC and back through regions. WBL and CDH probably have some talent but they don't have coaches who know how to harness it.

Very true about Woodburys' coaching and definitely true about White Bear Lake's.

Not true about the CDH coaching. Their talent level will be way down this year. Their staff is solid and the same from the 2006 champ team. Even last year they were a little down along with a few players not carrying their own weight at times. The coaching is there, they just will be going through one of those down periods again as they have in the past.

They also do not really have the strong youth programs to draw from such as Woodbury and WBL either. Things may change in Woodbury in the near future and then we will see what their coachig staff is really made of.

Yeah, so they just draw from all of them!

What long face are you talking about? You have no idea what I look like. And no, my decision to not attend CDH is maybe the best I've ever made.

we'll just have to wait and see. You guys all doubt cdh and their top three in alt, zimmerman and bangs. Probably cause you didn't get into elite league like they did. They obviously proved something. How come woodbury and white bears guys didn't make it? There just not as good, but this fight is pointless, nobody is going to win it. We all know alt is dirty. Bangs and Zimmerman may not have had tremendous seasons last year, but they obviously proved it by getting into elite league and zimmerman getting into it two years in a row now.

also how can you say cdh has weak defense they return four defenseman and last year defense was their strong point but once again nice try.

Read the post again. Alt and Zimmerman are given there dues. So you are returning last years #2 and #s 4 - 6 defensemen, big deal.

Woodbury has 2 in the Elite league and both are JRs, I believe they had 2 last season also. So I guess they will be in for 2 yrs also. SO that must mean Bangs isn't as good as they are seen as he didn't make it his Jr year, Right? That is your reasoning.

Like you say I guess we will wait and see.

#1- Woodbury
#2 - WBL
#3 - CDH
#4 - Stillwater- Flake - Roseville

ya but cdh and those three have more experience than woodbury. Gaede is a very good player but was on fourth line last year. Barely played. Not the case for the guys at cdh.

Since when is how many players you have in the elite league a barometer of how good a hockey team will be?

well it does show if a team has any good players

While I'm not a CDH fan, I agree here. Gaede was barely noticeable and got very little play time. In my opinion, he's a great try out skater but doesn't ever really finish and is not a gamer. I would say that the returners from last year's team (yes...I know there aren't too many) will be what gives the boys from Woodbury the edge here, as well as, the coaching of Bolin and Tollefsbol. It should be a good season.
